I need a cool name / flavor text for an intelligent ring of telekinesis whose purpose is to "watch your back."

Though not fully fleshed out the basics are as follows, though I'd be willing to add stuff if it's cool.

Intelligent ring of Telekinesis

Stats: all 10. I may increase int and maybe wis if I have sufficient funds
Senses 120'
Blindsight & Darkvision
Touch based telepathy
Probably ranks in perception

Possible additions:

Special purpose: Something to the effects of aid/protect the creator who will be wearing it. Need to word this carefully as to minimize the DM screwing with me

use of 4th level spell: Emergency force sphere

Perhaps an extra dimensional space just big enough to hold a few books/spellbooks

Thoughts?

A couple of possible names....

If it's a gold ring: Golden Guardian.

If it's silver: Silver Sentinel.

Solid, Ring of the Wingman.

Made by a Haunted Curse Oracle of Battle who was failed by one too many "comrades" in the heat of battle.

Missing his nose, after one such incident, he swore he would come up with a way to keep it from happening ever again.

And he did. The ring is intelligent and the firm ally of anyone wearing it. However it is also suspicious of any companions the wearer might have. It is prone to petty insults and belittling insults.

And gossip. By Gorum, does the thing gossip. Nothing is ever good enough for it, any action by a party member will be relentlessly questioned.

Unless you are the one fortunate enough to wear it. Although many former wearers were relieved when it finally passed from their finger. Over time the comment "Aren't you glad I'm here?" got to be too tedious for them all.

(I'd have had it made by a wizard, but I get tired of them getting to make everything. Oracle wouldn't be able to get force sphere though without raising the dc)

My wizard is making it for himself.

Oliware (or Perceival) is an intelligent ring designed for perceiving potentially unseen threats. The problem? It does too good of job. While it comes in handy for watching one's back, it does so almost obsessively, telling its owner of every single detail. Whether it be a grasshopper hopping past, or a murderous assassin approaching with a poisoned dagger, Oliware / Perceival will go in depth about its looks, perceived emotional states and general composition, even going as far as to critique the material from time to time. It's goal and only hope is to find the most intriguing event it can find and watch in earnest.

Possible quotes for general idea:

Oliware / Perceival: "Boss! Boss! There's two bumble bees, about 2 centimeters large mating in mid air. You have to see this. It's simply awe inspiring."

Oliware / Perceival: "Hey Boss, there's this woman wearing almost all black, with brown buckles holding what I'd guess is sheaths stalking us. She's got a solid scowl, but her approach isn't as intimidating as it could be. Her swords not even serrated. I'd give her a 6.5 out of 10."

Oliware / Perceival: "Could we go somewhere besides the desert? It's too bright and there's almost nothing going on to watch..."

Oliware = All Aware

Perceival = A play on the name Percival, mixed with perceive.

There's probably a reason the sample Special Purposes are broad in scope. This one seems more like a "give me more options"-purpose than something to add more flavour to the item.

Still, your GM may be okay with it. I'd be careful about adding too many options though - the ring already has a big Ego score and Intelligent Items are beholden not to their wearer, but to their Alignment and Special Purpose...

Oculon the Ever-Vigilant and it should look like this

The Beholder

If there's one thing that fiction including AIs tells you it's that a directive to protect can be used to screw the protectee over absolutely. Any GM with some familiarity with SF will be able to find such ideas if they want them.

Still, for names?

The Third Eye of Tiny Coffee Golem (or character, as appropriate)
The Bat Ring
Angelus Anulum (the angel of the ring)
Bob

I want one... this is awesome.

I think so. It's a brilliant idea for a wizard. The ring can take physical actions (via telekinesis) to help the wizard.

Plus via telepathy the wizard can telepathically tell the ring what to do while he takes other actions.

Anyway, I digress. It's an idea I've been wanting to do for awhile.

I like this. Plus it harkens to the telekinetic eye of a beholder.
