Huge mounts and melee

Rules Questions

I'm making a mammoth rider and I have a few questions.

How does my huge mount affect my characters ability to attack? Can I only use ranged attacks or would a reach weapon be sufficient? Are people without a ranged weapon or reach unable to attack my character?

Although it doesn't make sense, once you are mounted, you can attack any 5ft square adjacent to your mount. If you also have 10 ft reach, your attack can hit 10 ft of your mounts square(s).

The Exchange Owner - D20 Hobbies

You share all squares with your mount, so you can attack any adjacent target. You would provoke from adjacent characters if you make a ranged attack. You would have normal 10 ft reach if you used a reach weapon. All adjacent characters can attack you if they can attack your mount.

I see. Well, I'm not really sure how to react to that. I suppose I should just be happy...I think?

Ask this same question in the Advice section.

That's a great idea! Apparently I posted the same question twice. Whoops, sorry.

Okay I'll do it.

Doesn't look like that helped either. Oh well.

I put some advice in the other thread if you were looking for a bit more 'realism' in how to run it.

Rules-wise (and simpler) you just treat yourself as in the mount's entire space, as others have said.
