Are these counted as a poison effect? I've run into this a few times and I wasn't sure how to handle it. It doesn't say anything about being a poison so I ruled it wasn't but I wasn't quite sure about that.
Also since it's a paralytic secretion would someone with poison use be able to theoretically harvest it and coat it on a weapon?

If it's a poison effect, it would say so. By the rules, it is not a poison effect.
You would hope the rules would say so, but previous experience says otherwise. It is not a normal poison effect in that it does not do stat damage, but it is an EX "paralytic secretion". Sounds like a poison to me.

To my knowledge, effects that do not use the standard poison rules are still poison effects if they are specifically labeled as poison effects. Examples include kapre, host devil, achaierai, garden ooze, globster, tooth fairy, etc.
If there is a rule citing showing that chuul paralysis secretions are poison effects, I would like to know.I too, run chuul paralysis as poison effects in my home games. That said, I'd like to keep that separate from the Rules Forum.
