Paladin Class Deck Cure - Level 2 but Basic?

Pathfinder Adventure Card Game General Discussion

Finally opened my Paladin Class Deck and saw the weird Cure spell. It's a AD2 card, but it has the Basic trait. That is a new one that I haven't seen before. I thought I'd raise it here in case it is a mistake.

Cure is basic, so sounds right to me. They just don't want to give you access to that copy of the spell until AD2. See also cleric CD (I think) with an AD1 Blessing of the Gods.

There's always been Basic cards that weren't necessarily a B or C level card. While the traits of cards will always be the same (your Cure is always a Cure), the Adventure number may change between sets so you get them at different power levels, or in class decks you won't be able to just take all your Cures from the start. You have to work for some of them.

Ah yes, I should have remembered the Blessing of the Gods. Right then, nothing to see here, move on. :)

I still think this is a curious choice. A Rogue can grab a Cure as soon as they get a card feat, but a Paladin has to wait for a Level 2 upgrade?

I understand that in the RPG Paladins do not get their healing abilities right away, but given the precedent in the card game, I would have thought Paladins would get Cures sooner.

Think it was just easier leaving the basic trait on than removing it. AD2 wasn't a mistake.

Rogue can't recharge, Paladin can. Rangers get cure at level 1, not sure why Paladins are so nerfed. Will find out soon since I get my deck soon.

Believe the rule is the same card needs the same info/traits, otherwise it's a different card (see: S&S's version of the Heavy Crossbow unfairly having its Elite trait errata'd away D:) So AP2/Basic is weird, but legit?

That's what I initially thought - Cure spell is Basic everywhere. I just didn't remember any other Basic cards being higher level.

We can argue whether the Paladin should get the Cure earlier or later, but I don't think the Basic trait is a problem now.

Not a mistake. Cards should not change their traits from set to set, as noted in this complex ruling. Since Paladins get the ability to heal later than Clerics do in the RPG, we decided to mirror that here. But the card is still Basic.
