Trick spell metamagic spell choices

So, i LOVE the new trick spell metamagic
(+1 cl, usable only on single target enchantment spells with will save negates, gives a free dirty trick with cmb: (cl+cha) vs the target)

but i'm having trouble finding good spell candidates for it.

in most cases, single target enchantment (will negates) are thigns like murderous command, charm, dominate, spells that if the target fails his save, you actually want them to go do stuff for you, so giving them penalties to do said stuff seems counterproductive.

so far, two great candidates (imo) are unadulterated loathing and reckless infatuation, both spells that cripple the opponent and dirty trick makes it harder to do the stuff they need to do (like entagling or blinding them)

the image is also pretty funny, with stuff like one stumbling on his own feet while trying to run away (entagle+loathing), or in his hurry having his hood fall over his face (blind), even fearing that he might not make it (shaken) and etc

what are some other spells that you would use this metamagic? (imo it needs to lose the enchantment portion of it, or at least make it illusion+enchantment, but heh, you are a caster, you don't NEED more tools:p)


Daze. With a trait it'd even still be a cantrip. They'll still be hindered by the dirty trick when the daze ends.

seems quite short lived trick to waste a trait (imo) since they a)need to fail the save, and b) even with a mesmer, opponent's will quickly become striaght up immune.

but for a low lvl game, like lvl5-6 it should be ok


You'd want to retrain the trait quite early, yes.

Generally speaking trick spell is going to be pointless at mid levels onward though and will itself need to be retrained; single target will save spells are often save or lose anyway, even if they don't charm or dominate the target.


initial thought was to find a debuffing spell, to go with trick spell + dastardly trick on a mesmer.

something like:
stare: -3 to will, shaken -2 saves, sickened -2 will: -7 to saves (round1 swift action stare, causes shaken, attack with cruel for sickened)
dastardly dc: 10+4+6: 20, so
effective will dc 27 (by lvl9) to remove the dirty trick.

so if i found a nice debuff to go along those, i could really shut down someone with something like -3will, -4 saves, -7 attacks, blind, +the actual spell
