I'm looking at playing a gunslinger in a setting with advanced firearms.
Looking at the price of ammunition, though, it seems impossible. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it looks like the cost for a single shot is 10gp for the powder, 15gp for the metal casing, and 1gp for a single bullet. that's 26gp for a single shot at level 1. that can't be right, can it?

The other option is to start with an old weapon and switch to the revolver (and more expensive ammunition) when you can afford it.
Past the first few levels, regardless of advanced or regular firearms, you're going to be buying/crafting cartridges anyway. The paper versions are only a little cheaper than the metal ones. And as the Casual Viking said, you only need the cartridge, not cartridge+bullet+powder, so it's 15gp - halved for crafting.

Playing with advanced firearms also reduces the price of both firearms and ammunition. I'm on my phone, so posting links is hard, but it's explained on the firearms equipment pages.
Talk to your GM and see which rules he's using for his setting. The assumption for advanced firearms is for the prices to be reduced.

Not necessarily.
The "Commonplace Guns" level suggests making Advanced firearms available, but at the listed prices. Early firearms are 25% of list.
At the "Guns Everywhere" level, even Advanced firearms and ammunition are 10% of list cost.
