So guys, what sort of format is this going to be in? I've already pledged, because Frog God apparently put cocaine in the Tome of Horrors back when they called themselves Necromancer Games, and I've never been able to shake my habit of your massive books. (Slumbering Tsar was a dear companion to me during my surgery recovery, way back when.) I'm just curious.
Is it going to look more like Razor Coast, Slumbering Tsar, or maybe closer to Paizo's Rise of the Runelords Complete edition?

Greg A. Vaughan Pathfinder Creative Director, Frog God Games |
Slumbering Tsar is more like our standard look. Razor Coast was an amalgamation of years of work on it by Sinister Adventures before it came into Frog Gods' hands. RotR, is of course a Paizo product, so we stay away from their trade dress.
This one will be most similar to Tsar, Rappan Athuk, Cults of the Sundered Kingdoms, Barakus, etc. in its look.

Cheers, Greg. That all makes sense, even though it's not quite what I'm looking for. Perhaps I'd better get the PDF after all and print off a couple of copies of the relevant bits. Thanks for the explanation, anyhow. At least I know I'm not actually missing something obvious. :)
Remember you'll get the pdf for free with the purchase of the hardcover, so don't buy both. :-)

Is there any movement to get this KS on Paizo's front page? That usually gets any campaign a huge boost.
I believe Paizo can only post products that they sell through their store on the front page (correct me if I'm wrong). While Paizo will certainly be carrying this book after it's printed, while its still KSing, they don't yet have it for sale so I'm not sure that they can. Of course, we'd love for them to if they could.

Ah, I thought I remembered seeing a previous KS get the Paizo Front Page Treatment.
If I had more than two human twitter followers, I'd be able to do more for the project.
My plan for conquering the world will take more time and planning, obviously.

Paizo HAS featured Kickstarters on their blog in the past - here, for example. It probably wouldn't hurt to shoot them an email and ask. XD

PLEASE promote this book people, spread the word, it looks like its going to be awesome !
Thanks, Lorden!
I realize I'm totally biased, having written a great deal of this book and having developed all of it, but I have to say I am very pleased with how it has turned out. From its humble-but-excellent beginnings, it has really grown gracefully. And even now as I read back over the adventures in its final stages of production, I get really excited about them. For what it costs, of course, everyone will have to be their own judge of it's value, but if you are even remotely interested in Viking-type settings or adventures you will not be disappointed. And if Vikings aren't your thing but you like a rugged northern setting with a variety of adventure types and locations, I don't think you'll be disappointed.
You guys know the kind of stuff FGG puts out, and you know the kinds of adventures that I like and that I write. So for whatever that's worth to you, there it is.
:-)

Some thoughts on the first four installments, which I had posted back on the old Necromancer boards. Excellent series and I'm backing in the KS. Way to go, FGG!

You know silverhair, just bumping the thread doesn't do much if there is no link to the Ks on this page - perhaps bumping the thread with a link might help...
Personally I see nothing here to interest me, and the price point is set so high even if. I was interested I wouldn't back it.
I like Vikings, but this seems so standard-fare to me I can't understand folks excitement. I get that this is by FGG, but that really means nothing to me either, having none of their products nor particularly ever been interested in them.
So, I would surmise that this is aimed more at FGG fans than new customers suh as myself, who see very little to excite them or entice them into backing the project.
Excite me. Entice me. The "Reasons to back" thread has only impressed upon me that this is uninteresting to me.

The Herald Frog |

OSW, everyone has their own set of interests. For me the point of interest is more information about The Lost Lands. I am kind of burned out on Golarion so a different campaign setting does interest me. Also, I was in a group that was playing in the Midgard Northlands and that helped to get me interested. This is scheduled to be a campaign setting gazetteer for the northern part of the Lost Lands and contain between 14-18 adventures from 1-20. So for about 950+ pages you would get a setting gazetteer and an adventure path in one book.
So if you aren't into Vikings that is okay. Some of us are. Not every Kickstarter gets the same supporters. So have fun supporting the ones that interest you.
EDIT: Here is the link to the Kickstarter. Also if you are interested there is a link in the Paizo store Blog.

I've backed plenty of Kickstarters, and looked at many others. When I see a thread here, I usually check out the entire thread, and when a new page turns up I have often been the one to post a link to the Kickstarter page even if I am not a backer just to be helpful, and to support 3PPs. This is all I am suggesting Herald Frog/silverhair do - more than just bump, provide a link, even perhaps to the latest Update if available.
Those who are backing the KS will be getting official Kickstarter Updates direct to their email.
Given that I am not enticed by this, and thus represent non-FGG conversant fandom, I think the problem I'm seeing is that all silverhair's "bumps" are doing is keeping the thread title at the the top of the list, but not conveying anything new. The KS has been running for quite a while now, so I'm guessing most people on the forum are aware of the KS, but perhaps, like me, on the fence about backing it - thus they are seeing new posts, not being alerted to a thread that is new to them. As such, a bump with no new information is not as useful as a post with an update. And as I have pointed out, anyone already backing the KS is already getting those Updates.
Again, I am interested in Vikings, so the subject matter it of nominal interest to me, but beyond that, what is on offer? What is special about this? Not just page counts, but motes of interest, or some wow factor. So far all I have received (apart from silverhairs very general but honest and gracious note) is sarcasm and brush offs. If I have come across as entirely negative then that has not been my intention - I am merely trying to indicate that I am actually the target market being missed. Ask around, I may be grumpy and at times irritating, but I am a fierce proponent of 3PPs and want to see the market thrive and create.

I need this to fund. My soul is invested in it now.
I agree. Guys, is there ANY place that might be getting overlooked which could be informed that this is taking place? Gaming forums? Local shops? Anything?.
I just think this is going to be one of those adventures that players are going to want to experience. I know i do. Right up there with Rappan Athuk and Slumbering Tsar.
FGG puts out some really great material, no matter if your playing or reading it. I just cant help that this mega adventure deserves to exist. Especially for us old school gamers who appreciate the overall feel that FGG puts into their books.
PLEASE, if your part of a gaming forum or are tapped into some other social outlet, even if you only know a few people (that are into this) just send them a link and quick description.
At 19 days away and still roughly 23k needed, every little bit can help and could really get this accomplished. We are already close to 2/3 of the way there and it would REALLY suck to miss out. Im sure there are other interested people out there that might not know about this yet.
Drop them a line, they might be very thankful you did.

Thank you for the clarification, OSW. I don't think you and I have ever met, and I can't say that I know much of anything about you or your particular tastes (other than what you've posted) . I do know that I appreciate what Silverhair is doing, so I didn't want him to feel like he wasn't being appreciated for his efforts. I get what you're saying about a link, but even if he doesn't put one in I still really appreciate him taking the time to do a bump.
As a very small company with only a handful of part-timers working on these projects, FGG is extremely limited as far as what it can do regarding social media, updates, and that sort of thing, and we absolutely cater to our existing fan base because they are the only means by which we exist. We do have a pretty good idea of what they like, so we gear our announcements and communications towards them first and foremost. If our existing customers are excited they help us get other people excited.
That said, we also are very much aware of the need to constantly reach new customers and are extremely interested in doing so. However, we don't know those new customers so we don't know specifically what they like to see. As you've said, you've never purchased one of our products and generally are not interested in what we have offered in the past. That's fine. But for Northlands we've posted information and updates about the physical qualities of the book, provided in-depth background and general contents summary, explained the basis for its development and level of historical authenticity that we have chosen in its development, have given many examples to show the kind of feel it has, have provided examples of concept art and examples of the types of atmosphere and intersting or original settings/tableaus that it explores, and have given out some actual crunch text in the form of the most recent archetype I posted. Not to mention there are dozens of customer testimonials on this and other threads about the extent that they like or support FGG as well as many explanations as to the why. I get that those are not doing anything for you, but for you to then say that none of it is interesting and that we should wow you is confusing to me. I have to ask what is interesting to you (other than vikings nominally, as you stated)?
It is entirely possible that there is nothing about this book to strike your interest, and if so that's fine. My feelings aren't hurt by someone who isn't a fan of ours. It may just be that what we make doesn't scratch your particular itch, and if so I'm sure there is somebody else's products that do. That's okay for us. We'd love to have you as a customer, but it seems like you've made a decision already about FGG without ever having read anything by FGG (at least as far as I can tell from what you've written). You're certainly free to judge a book by its cover if you want (no snark intended, it's something that people do everyday), and you're welcome to comment on this or any thread with your opinion about it. Your voice is as legitimate as anybody's. It's just that the things you are posting are perplexing to me. I'd like to show you something about Northlands or FGG that could pique your interest, but I honestly have no idea what you're looking for.
Anyway, I'm not trying to debate you or start a thread war or anything, so if my post seems confrontational please forgive me. I only wanted to explain my contradiction of you in regards to the Herald Frog and to try and engage you to see if there is something we could show you or tell you about the book. If it truly has nothing to offer you, there are certainly no hard feelings. We just like to listen to our customers and potential customers and address anything if we can.
And regardless, thank you for your support of 3PPs. Between the awesome access that Paizo gives us to the PF game and the support of folks like you, we all really benefit and appreciate it.
Sorry for the uber-long post. :-)
Greg
