Forgive me if this is the wrong place, I couldn't figure out where I should ask this, it seems like a rules-related question to me. If it doesn't belong here, please move it to the right spot.
Benefit: The rogue can search a creature, object, or area in half as much time as normal. If her Perception check would normally require a full-round action or less, it becomes one step shorter along the following progression: full-round action, standard action, move action, swift action, immediate action. This talent has no effect on Perception checks that are attempted as free actions or Perception checks that don't require an action.
What Perception checks take a full-round action? I can't find any rules on searching areas under the Perception skill.
This also brings to mind the mechanics of the Sift spell, what kind of check is it to do, mundanely, what the Sift spell does; what kind of action is it, and can I combine the Sift spell with the Quick Scrounge talent?

No idea what perception checks take a full-round action.
Me either, my search (relatively cursory I'll admit) didn't uncover any but my feeling is it got lost in translating the old 3.0/3.5 rules into the new Perception rules. Using the Search skill in 3.5 was a full round action when used to search a 5 ft by 5 ft area or when used to search a volume of goods 5 ft on a side.

The talent does two things for Perception checks.
First it makes, Intentionally searching for stimulus is a move action.
So it makes it a Swift Action to use.
Otherwise it also mentions that using the talent allows you to search in half as much time. Meaning if you Take 20 when using Perception it takes 1 minute instead of 2 mins.

It's covering its bases...read it carefully. If it takes a full-round action or less, it gets shorter by one action step. So standards become moves, and moves become swifts. It's not great but it could have uses, like actively looking for invisible foes in combat.
So while there is no default use of Perception that takes a full round action, the talent would help in the case that some feat or ability exists that would use one.

Perception checks involving full room searches generally take longer than six seconds.

At which point the talent halves the time needed. Again, it's not great, but it does do something.
