In my pbp game, a PC has been subjected to Deathblade poison.
The saving throw was made last turn. This turn, the save was missed by two. My player is asking if another player can use Aid Another to help him succeed in his saving throw.
"You can also use this standard action to help a friend in other ways, such as when he is affected by a spell, or to assist another character's skill check."
Is the Aid Another action legal and relevant in this instance?

Aid another is never specified as being useable on someone's saving throw. It doesn't make logical sense —at least to me— either. Between those two points, I wouldn't allow it.

Heal specifically calls out about helping poisoned creatures, and it's the only thing that would make sense to do so. If you want to help someone that is poisoned, use the heal skill.
I don't really like that the Heal skill provides +4 or +0 though. I think a +2 with an addition +2 for succeeding beyond DC+5 would be good, and maybe even a +1 for failing within 2–5).
Speaking of Heal though, what consists of proof of failure? Would the victim be able to tell the next round if he's still poisoned or not? The reason I ask is because he will still likely be suffering poison effects despite being cured of poison, the only difference is that it wouldn't be getting any worse. Could a character tell the difference between being at -4 Dex and -5?
