Way to get Cavalier / Fighter levels to stack for feat prereqs?

Rules Questions

I'm really hoping to do a build with an elf Phalanx Soldier using an Elven Branched Spear and getting up to 11 to get Pin Down, but going straight fighter bores the snot out of me. I thought about just taking enough fighter levels to be able to one-hand the spear with a tower shield then using Daring Champion from then on, but sadly Cavalier and Fighter levels don't stack for the former's bonus feats (which is stupid, IMHO). Any suggestions? I don't particularly want to go Swashbuckler instead since I really dig Banner and Tactician for this build.

As long as you don't use Weapon Finesse...

In any case, there's no way.

You might want to look at a Barbarian multiclass though, with the Armored Hulk archetype. You could get No Escape as a rage power.

No way to do it. It's not often at all that you get to add different class levels together.

I'd suggest to skip tower shield and pin down if you want to play Daring Champion. Needing 11 levels in fighter isn't worth that feat, even if there was another feat to get there.
Tower shields are in general crap and doesn't work well at all with Daring Champion. As that's a DEX based class and tower shield restricts you to a +2 to AC from DEX while only granting a +4 shield bonus. Using a one-handed weapon that is finessable by Champion's Finesse and a buckler and you'll break even with the AC when you have a DEX score of 20 and not take -2 to attack from the tower shield.

Otherwise, you'll need to put 3 levels into Phalanx Soldier to just be able to wield the spear and the shield. That means you'll fall 3 levels behind on every scaling Cavalier class feat.

That's what I was afraid of. My other idea was dip the 3 into Phalanxer, then go Samurai with the Naginata as my weapon for expertise, but I don't think that qualifies since Pin Down doesn't select a specific weapon.

Nope.

Not sure why you are so afraid of full fighter.

That's it really

According to the PFSRD, there's a Ranger Combat Style that lets you get Pin Down as a 10th level bonus feat. I'm not sure if you can find any reasonable way to get Ranger Combat Style feats, but that's the best I can think of.
