I mainly play PFS and was wondering what the difference was. I'm familiar with checking FAQs to see if something is legal but now I've ran into an errata that would stop an idea I have. I'm mainly asking because even the errata was worded as a suggestion rather than "this is how it works now" kinda deal. Looking at the kitsune "realistic likeness" feat's errata. If that's relevant.

Weird question time:
Source for the errata you mention?
There's a change to Change Shape, but nothing for that feat in the errata document.
If you mean the sidebar on d20pfsrd, that's not errata, but that site's reasonable suggestion regarding the intent of the feat (eg, it's doubtful that the feat is meant to let you appear to be a specific dwarf, since you can only assume human form), but the feat itself, even after the ARG errata document, is unchanged.

Think of it as the difference between Congress passing a new law and The Supreme Court making a ruling.
In the first case - they're changing how the law works.
In the latter case they're interpreting the law as to what it always said whether or not people had been treating it that way.
The big difference is that The Supreme Court's ruling is retroactive.
And in both the case of The Supreme Court & FAQs - they sometimes overreach and are really in the territory of new law/errata.
