Monkey Goblins are Goblins ?

Rules Questions

Grand Lodge

this race from Inner Sea Bestiary pg. 16 :

Monkey Goblin are "Humanoid (Goblinoid)" like the goblins.
their starting language is Goblin
fluff text is : "... an offshoot of the goblin race..."

Question : can the Monkey Goblins take feats/traits with the "goblin" pre-requisite ?
(knowing that FAQ says that Half-elf can do for Elf)

Half Elves and Half Orcs have specific rules text that say they count as both humans and elf or orc for the purposes of racial prerequisites (See Orc Blood and Elf Blood). Monkey Goblins don't have that so I'd put my money on no. Saying yes would be a very reasonable houserule though.

Given that there is no monkey goblin specific content (alternative racial traits, feats, archetypes etc.), I'd allow the player access to regular goblin content. Why penalize someone for bringing an interesting race into play?

Despite this, some options are redundant with monkey goblins (e.g. Cave Crawler and Tree runner) and some don't really fit to their setting (e.g. City Scavenger and the fire affinity in general). So it would need some careful considerations...
