[Star Wars FFG] Interest check for GM and players

Recruitment

Having discovered the Fantasy Flight Games Star Wars games (Edge of the Empire, Age of Rebellion, Force and Destiny), I am very interested in trying it some more. I am already in a game here on the boards, I do admit, but another certainly cannot hurt. :-) However, I would like to do so as a player, as I do not believe I have the skill or the time needed to GM a game. Plus, I like thinking up and making characters to play much more than building a campaign.

So, basically, this is a thread to see if there are others who would be interested in trying out and playing such a game, as the system seems rather fun and quite suited for a PbP. It would, of course, require enough potential players, but most of all it would require an interested and reliable GM (as PbPs can be quite a fickle thing at times) who is also quite familiar with the system.

Furthermore, since the game uses custom dice, it would require a dice roller on another site (Orokos). There is also the alternative to use the dice roller here by assigning the appropriate symbols to the various multi-sided dice, as the system's dice are simply the usual multi-sided dice with symbols instead of numbers.

Ideally, it would be nice if the game incorporated all three campaign books (Edge of the Empire, Age of Rebellion, Force and Destiny) and it would certainly also be wonderful if it were Knight-Level Play or if it gave bonus XP and/or credits at character creation to better build the character and for variety's sake. I will also admit that a main reason for the above is because I would love to try out a Human Guardian (Protector, Force Sensitive Emergent), so there is a bit of selfishness thrown in as well. ;-P

Well, I suppose this is it. Keeping fingers crossed, even though Star Wars games do not appear all that often here, so I am not sure if there is indeed interest, especially for this particular system. But it is worth a try, I guess. :-)

Also interested in playing. Got the beginner box for F&D about 2 weeks ago.
Eager to play a game =^^=

It is pretty different when compared to Pathfinder, what with its basically level-less XP-spending system. But playing in a game here already, I find it an interesting change of pace and a fun system.

It certainly appears more balanced than Star Wars Saga Edition where Jedi and non-Jedi are concerned. And its gameplay does appear to be quite story-driven, which sounds like a plus as far as PbPs are concerned.

Doting for interst as a player. Thinking scoundrel or something that promotes social play.

I would be interested in playing as well.

Also interested

Oh, hey there. I did notice your looking to start a Star Wars game as well, a D6 one I believe. I am not familiar with the system and I do not think I have the mental fortitude to delve into yet another ruleset, otherwise I might have given it serious consideration. :-)

Still, I hope this actually works and I get to try the FFG ruleset some more. Here's hoping.

The d6 thing is the 1st system for Star Wars RPGs, it's more fluid I think. The d20 system is really good if you LOVE customization. I am not really familiar with FFG system. The older I have gotten as a gamer and DM. The more I like simplicity and story over customization.

i just started the box this friday. it felt clunky and heavily railroaded. maybe my dm needed more practice but it was flustering. I love the system though.

Thanks for the warning =^^= better prepare when i decide to run it

Well, it at least seems like there are enough people interested to give it a go as players. But the hard part is and has always been finding a GM, especially a good and reliable one who is willing to stick around for the long haul.

So, anybody out there willing to step into the GM's big but fabulous shoes?

Dark Archive

My party and I enjoyed the the Edge of the Empire beginner box game. I explained before hand that it was going to be a learning experience for all. Each encounter, I would stop and explain what mechanism we were trying to learn. Everybody had a good time and we've been sprinkling in EotE games between our Carrion Crown Campaign. Plus I think the party is enjoying cutting loose a bit as rogues compared to good guys trying to save the world.

It is why I would actually prefer a game that combines all three campaign books as I find it would make for a more complete and fun experience. The roguishness and Firefly-esque feel of Edge of the Empire, the military element and Rebels-vs-Empire shtick of Age of Rebellion and, of course, the Force and its ways of Force and Destiny, as Star Wars without the Force and its users (even if they are not officially Jedi) seems a bit weird to me.

Hmm... I've actually run this system IRL and I like it. It allows for more free license for players to choose their actions and describe them in narrative detail, instead of it always falling to the GM. Considering my limited time, I would rather play in one than run one, but I may be convinced to start one up if a)people are cool with 24 hour turn around times and b)we can find a decent roller to emulate the special dice. It may just be as simple as me putting up the conversion chart in the Campaign Info, because even though I have the dice roller on my phone, I don't believe there is a website with it.

I too have the App... but a conversion table would prob be best for this site

The rulebook for edge of the empire has a conversion chart in it on page 12.

Yep. I have almost all the books except for the most recent (last three months) few. I have the beginner's set for F&D but haven't gotten the rulebook yet.

I have the app as well.

Actually, there is. It is the one I put in my opening post. Here, let me provide the link for you, as well as posts of a character of mine that have links of rolls in them as examples.

Hmmm... I will have to look into that one. That may be just what we need. Is it provided with membership to the site?

All it requires really is a free registration, which should take a couple of minutes. It also keeps a record of your rolls in your profile page over there if I remember correctly, even doing so by campaign name if you use the same one every time you roll.

And then there is the option of simply assigning symbols to the numbers in the dice roller here. Check the following link for such a conversion:

Oh, and to make character creation a wee bit simpler if or when it comes to that, here is a link to a character generator, or to be more precise here is a link to a post in the FFG forums where the actual link is. The generator contains rules from all three campaigns (Edge of the Empire, Age of Rebellion, Force and Destiny) despite being called a SW: EotE Character Generator. Keep in mind it does not have Talent descriptions and such, instead pointing you to the relevant page in the appropriate book.

Okay. With that in mind, I may start this up.The resources are there. I really like the page OGGM has for that game so I may borrow it for this one.. let me get back to my computer later today and we'll go from there.

You might want to create a new recruitment thread so that you will be the Game Master and thus be able to change things and create a proper Campaign with its Gameplay and Discussion tabs and so on. This one seems to have me as the Game Master and I do not know if or how I can transfer ownership, so to speak.

Awesome. Woot!
