Pathfinder Adventure Card Game General Discussion

Hi all.

I've recently started up a new board and card-games blog, where I'm hoping to be devoting a fair amount of time to Pathfinder.

Here's one of my early attempts - a review of the Wrath base set.

Wrath Review

I'd appreciate people's thoughts. I'm planning on doing one of these for each box released from now on, as well as some other more general thoughts.

Scarab Sages

I think you've hit upon a lot of the potential strengths & weaknesses of the set. They added a lot of neat new twists, like you've highlighted, but at the cost of not really maintaining the consistent quality of the core challenge that Runelords & Skull & Shackles managed to maintain.

That's a really good review of the game, it gives the reader a very good idea of what they should expect.

One comment though, I thought that all armor that reduces combat damage would also reduce ranged combat damage. If I'm not wrong, the Fiendish Tree isn't as bad.

Yep, ranged combat damage is a form of combat damage, so armor that reduces combat damage will also work to reduce ranged combat damage. However, looking through the post I don't think that is what was being said. If you notice, he said there are few armors that can be revealed to reduce the damage at that point in the game, which is true. Most Basic/B armors reduce combat damage by recharging, not revealing, meaning you can't block both the before and after you act damage with the same armor.

Nice review. Only thing I would of added is the house rule suggestion to play AD1 first then the Basic scenarios

Yes, when I first read the article I interpreted "down" as meaning discarded, but Jim just meant you'd have two less cards in hand.

Yes, I was just meaning fewer cards in hand, rather than necessarily in the discard pile.

I might tweak the wording- and add a note about playing the Base/Level 1 Adventures out-of-order.

Thanks for the feedback
