So... The Blood Kineticist Archetype...
This REALLY screams "evilly evilly eeeevil" but, c'mon... who DOESN'T wanna play Hama or pissed-as-hell Katara?
Anyone else kinda giddy that not only do we get Benders mostly-properly, (Elemental Ascetic), but also freakin' BLOODBENDERS? Oh, this is gonna be interesting going here on forward.

Don't believe the archtype has to be evil, but does have to be a bit twisted and different set of morals. You are warping and controlling the life fluids of your foes and potentially your allies. My Bloodkineticist is a bit crazy, and collecting blood samples of various creatures.
Believe the writers did an excellent job of creating the archtype. Am excited to see the character grow in abilities and frighten GM's and other players with her quirks and manner.

Eh, I'm disappointed with the Blood Kineticist, since it's not really a blood kineticist, just a specialized hydrokinetic. I'll probably have to homebrew something to make a proper haemokinetic.
While I can kinda understand, you need to realize the whole Archetype is one giant love-letter to Legend of Aang and Legend of Korra: the requirement of being a Water kineticist, the fact that taking Water a second time gives you an Ice Composite blast, the ability to cause pain, physical damage, the sickened condition, and even move enemies by manipulating their blood comes from the Bloodbenders of the Avatar universe.
It makes sense that Water, then, is the required element for being a Blood Kineticist.

I get that, I mean... look at the art next to it.
I'm just disappointed since I wanted a Blood Kineticist not a water kineticist. It was meant to work well with vampires and dhampirs, but you can't even move blood around with the blood kineticist aside from your blood blast.... It's just a water bender who moves water in peoples blood.
I was hoping that I could have a vampire with blood powers that doesn't have control over puddles.

I think the important part here is that kineticists manipulate the elements, and blood isn't an element. So, for the purposes of this class, the only way to manipulate it would be through the water within.
That being said, I'd love to see a vampire-themed class with power over blood itself.

I find I like the second half of the blood kineticist far more then the first half. All the cool and interesting stuff seems to wait till 8th to kick in. Not a fan of wrack at all, but throwing people via the blood in their bodies is cool. At least it looked cool in ATLA. The fact that it can only work on enemies with blood makes sense, but hampers it a substantial amount.

Yeah, but maybe DMs will allow it to work on things like Oozes, since they seem to be made of substantial amounts of water.
Wouldn't be the first time. After all...
TO SAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAND

Not to derail or anything (still excitedly awaiting my own copy of the book), there's a 3pp class from the Path of War line called Harbringer, that totally has that in mind, and specifically from it an arch-type bent in that direction:

It's an archetype, it's allowed to use a different fluff than the main class. To be completely honest, there is no reason why manipulating blood via hydrokinesis isn't simply part of waters default tricks list.
Edit: The Harbinger's Crimson Countess isn't a bloodbender. It can turn into blood, it doesn't bend it.

Errant Mercenary |

Vladimir, Hama, Korra...they are all there, and any blood manipulator. I wouldbve liked a creepier implementation, but it does well enough. Would like to see a blood kineticist that uses his blood as a weapon in melee, less about control.
I however love the control part... being able to throw people controlling their blood is amazing. I imagine a guy laying on a sofa sipping wine when the heroes bash in the room. Some rounds later they are all wriggling in pain on the floor as he continues to sip the wine. With a little extra.

Just getting back to this forum after many months since I am about to retire my Blood Bender to lvl 12 and ready for the All for Immortality scenarios.
Responding to Errant Mercenary's request. Here is her basic bio. She is a ranged striker of course, and I lvl dipped two levels of Juggler Bard cause it fit her concept and provided Deflect Arrows & Evasion. But she is great fun to play letting players know she is both a Kuthite and a member of Silver Crusade.
Long ago in the Age of Darkness it was prophesied there would be a woman without holy magick, yet power over blood, who would perform a blood symphony that would summon Zon-Kuthon to smile upon Golarion. All signs point to Sister Saphriel being this woman. Being raised as a healer and surgeon, she eventually discovered her power over both water and blood itself. Whoever being raised it the Nidal city of Nisroch, where music had been outlawed, she had no means to learn how to create a symphony for the Dark Prince.
She left to explore the world, offering her considerable talents as a healer. Early on she was enlisted and hired by the Aspis Consortium, for which she worked with them for several months. She disagreed with their methods and temperament, and she frightened them, so she left to their rival the Pathfinder Society. Here she found more acceptance and the chance to study music, so to help compose her blood symphony. Thus she is collecting blood samples and offering to heal her fellow Pathfinders, all leading to her fated destiny to summon a god of Madness and Pain.
