Nothing made me giggle inside as much as when I learned barbarians have the spell sunder rage power.
"I AM AN ALL POWERFUL WIZARD WHO CAN ALTER REALITY AT HIS WHIM, BOW BEFORE ME YOU RAGING PRIMITIVE!"
"Neat." *punches his magic to death*
Octavian Lucarin
Any wizard who lets a barbarian get close enough to do that deserves to be punched to death by said barbarian.
And tsakua please don't interrupt this ritual. Please please. I am literally begging you not to make 3 hours of writing a waste.
Jietin
*tsk*, as a wizard player myself I scoff when people say "Just don't let them get close". What game do you play in where you are always able to prep and control the fight to be untouchable? Very, very few, and that's only once you get into higher levels.
I vote for shenanigans as well!
Octavian Lucarin
Seriously, don't. You'll see when I finally post this thing. It's getting big enough that I can't warrant one post so the first half is coming up pretty quick.
Jietin
Like, I hear you, but it's like putting a box in my room and saying "Don't look in the box". If you would have just put down the box I would have ignored it, but since you told me not to look you have piqued my curiosity.
Octavian Lucarin
Ug 8 hour rituals suck so much! Yeah you can just wave your hand and go "I did the 8 hour ritual, look at my new stick" but where's the fun in that!?
Shoot me the next time I say that.
Tsakua Chain-Breaker
Shenanigans next time. No, no ritual interruption, but I was unable to tell you where all the traps are. Make sure you roll a good perception on your walk back to camp ;)
Toyer Pepwinnhans
There we go, crunch is all updated! GM, if you could double check that I didn't screw things up, that'd be great...it's very possible I did!
To the group, I hope my background is enough to get an idea of Toyer's personality. From a gameplay mechanics standpoint he'll more or less be a battlefield controller in combat. It's pretty rare that he'll actually be doing damage to anything. The weapon is exclusively for tripping people at reach to avoid the AoO.
Out of combat interactions with enemies and such will still be centered around being a nuissance to them, but with skill checks and semi-confusing sentences. More or less, he's meant to be a wonderful boon to friends and an unholy pest to enemies!
Lastly, I'll try to get caught up on some of the (recent past) gameplay chat, but GM, how would you like to weave Toyer in? EDIT: Nevermind, just read back a bit, question answered!
Pazeek Splitbeak
Toyer strikes me as a walking 'WTF?' moment, to be honest :D.
Tsakua Chain-Breaker
So...
We po'?
Hmm. Good thing Pazeek has some Survival then.
But no, that wealth would have been spent before actual play to get Sharpfeather some crafted barding in addition to the current gear, maybe some more minor gear like rations, or even tool upgrades. I'm a firm believer that starting money unspent is money wasted.
Tsakua Chain-Breaker wrote:Also, I think Tsakua and Pazeek should be the black-ops team.Tsakua, Pazeek, and Sharpfeather the hippogriff, who has a whole glorious rank in Stealth (and a +7 mod) now!
Edit: Nope, nevermind, Sharpfeather won't be sneakin' after all, lol. Forgot his size penalty to Stealth.
After looking things over, we should include Toyer for any stealth missions as well.

I'm already in camp, inside the building. Over in the corner.

Ah. My apologies for reading too quickly. Which is good, because snare traps do not look fun.
Octavian Lucarin
I want to finish this post, honestly. But the kitten decided to show his love by wrapping himself around my bare feet and cleaning them.
Must. Not. Go. Googly eyed.
Pazeek Splitbeak
I'm game anytime, so go right ahead for Pazeek.
Toyer Pepwinnhans
Same for Toyer, although to be fair I probably won't post tonight. It will be some time tomorrow during the day between patients. Oh, and I work evenings on PST, so it may be later than people are expecting. I can say for sure I very likely won't be able to make a post until after 11am PST.
Pazeek Splitbeak
'Tis the frabjous joy of PbP, you post when you can! Huzzah!
Pazeek Splitbeak
Moved as requested :D.
Pazeek Splitbeak wrote:Not me, because bad bookkeeping :PJietin wrote:I know, and quite entertaining this interaction is. Fun fact. Pazeek can get Jietin off of the ground. It'll be at a pokey 5 feet per round, so 30 feet in a minute, and a bit less than 5 minutes of flight time remaining on that daily use >:D. With the promise of furious peeking on the way up to boot. Who's got 28 hp? :p.Yeah, bad bookkeeping. Jietin is 220 lbs, so even without gear it's above your heavy load :P
Also FYI, all hostilities are purely in character, I am rather enjoying Pazeek! I'm going to let the others have a chance to post.
Fie upon your bad bookkeeping, fie I say!
Pazeek Splitbeak
As I see it, Pazeek earned his spurs, so to speak. He's not going to call attention to it--unless said attention is female and likely to be suitably impressed, you understand--but he's not going take any lip either :D.

Don't actually have a hat, but I can swing with it, DM willing
Breewyn blinked when the halfling commented on her hat. "Oh, why thank you. I think." She managed to stammer with a bit of a blush starting to form. She did notice Jietin and Pazeek exchange introductions, then jibs, now showing off strength. She began to grow nervous as she hurried over near them. Tsakua threw out an arm to stop her, and she huffed. "Oh come on!"
She pouted as he continued to have her blocked during pazeek and jietin's continued exchange as the bird-man threatened to carry the tiefling skyward. She did curiously look at the halfling once more, almost scrutinizing him as he watched the exchange as well nearby.
Oops! I misread your profile background. I thought you were the one with the top hat! Although, Toyer being Toyer, he may very well have made that statement regardless of whether or not you're wearing a hat...
Pazeek Splitbeak
So Pazeek is just hanging out for the moment, waiting for Jietin to let him go, or fight, or whatever it is that broody tieflings do when they have a fistful of tengu...
:p.
Pazeek Splitbeak
Welcome! Mind the tiefling, he's a bit snarly ;P.
Pazeek Splitbeak
So, players are encouraged to contribute to the world-building, if I recall correctly? Because I've got some ideas for Freeport }:D.
Pazeek Splitbeak
PM sent, though from my default alias by mistake.
Octavian Lucarin
Yeah Pazeek, the Brisal Desert was just a boring, empty desert before I made my homebrew species. Then I decided it was a perfect place for a race of powerful magic users inured to the heat. No matter how wild the idea go ahead and shoot it to Vin.
Pazeek Splitbeak
I have. Picture Freeport as a sort of Venice analogue, back when it was the power in the Mediterranean, but with a third (roughly) of the population being tengu who have a near-absolute lock on the manufacture of weapons and armor, and a ton of martial schools teaching just about every form of combat imaginable, be it unarmed or armed, physical or magical, melee or ranged.
Octavian Lucarin
Lol too bad Freeport and New Alexandria are so disconnected from each other. The Illidari aren't as combat oriented as that because they don't need to be but they built a mecca in the deep desert with their magic and forging is a religion to them. I can see the tengu and them being great friends.
Pazeek Splitbeak
Why not throw some Illidari into Freeport then, as an enclave? I've got Vinsomner onboard with Freeport as a fairly mixed city even if humans and tengu are the bulk of the population. Surely they'd have heard of Freeport and its arsenals, and been at least a little curious about the weapon-happy tengu. Maybe do a little cross-cultural exchange between the cities on the part of their respective ruling powers.
Tengu in New Alexandria adapting to the desert, while Illidari in Freeport become more pragmatic, and combat-wise, like their avian hosts :D.
Octavian Lucarin
Very possible as most Illidari have several levels of spellcasting, I'd imagine that now there is a sizeable chunk of tengu learning to deal with the desert as the Illidari would have evacuated as many as they could. Octavian hasn't been home in 20 years. With their powers they would have known the intentions of the army appearing down the river and realized that the city was doomed. Unfortunately since they wouldn't know which human might be spying for the invading force they left them all behind and only would evacuate non-humans. New Alexandria might become the New York of this world.
Octavian Lucarin
I will out of contact until sunday night. Assume I go with the group and help fight off whatever is is. I'll try to check the boards on my phone but I'm not the best at typing on those things so anything I post will be short.
