Hello I was wondering if the shapeshifting hunter feat from ultimate combat applies to increasing previous bonuses from ranger levels. Ex: would a 1st level ranger/ 4th level Druid have one favored enemy at +2 and another at +4, or would both only have a +2. Unfortunately how it is worded is unclear and i needed some clarification for a future npc of mine. Thanks a million!

I read it as standard favored enemy progression counting both ranger and druid. The only downside to the feat is on the druid side because it only increases times per day and not what shapes you can take. The fact that it says "determining when you select your next favored enemy" means it's referring to the existing favored enemy text (keyword being "when" in my opinion).

The feat doesn't give you Favored Enemy, it stacks your levels. The only rules about the number and size of your F.E. bonuses are in the Ranger class, you're just inputting a different level.
And sure, it's a nice bonus, but compared to a full Druid, I'm either a spell level or a wild shape level behind at all times.

At 5th level and every five levels thereafter (10th, 15th, and 20th level), the ranger may select an additional favored enemy. In addition, at each such interval, the bonus against any one favored enemy (including the one just selected, if so desired) increases by +2.
Increasing FE bonus seems to be a side effect of selecting a new FE. I think it's meant to work with Shapeshifting Hunter.
