Help with a race / character

I wanted to make a goblinoid race, similar to the Goblins but maybe with a bit more umph to it.

I considered just using the Goblin load out and adding more to it but that could get out of hand and is a weak base anyway. The idea I had was a far more Yoda-like take on the Goblin, a variant race who have developed skill and knowledge and are not ADHD Pyromaniacs though they had been at one point in their evolution. Perhaps a wizard stuck a tribe of goblins on a demi plane and this is what fell out when he checked on it later.

The idea is very Yoda-like a patient and wise man. Who if he decides to fight, he is gonna be a blur of green and you are gonna be on your back wondering what the heck just happened. I have thought of using Sacred Fist or something to be a very zen character but I am open for suggestions.


Did you want a monster race? That can be anything. Titans are a monster race, but you won't likely find many GMs letting players be a titan. Rare corner case, in a high-level game maybe. But if you just want this to be a monster race, then you can do whatever you want.

If you want to make a playable PC race (especially if you want it appropriate for level 1 PCs who are not actually any better than other level 1 PCs of other races, then it's not likely all members of the race are going to be a blur of green to put everyone on their back wondering what happened - that wouldn't be balanced against the other races.


I think the blur part was for the character part of the question. I think it's why he mentioned sacred fist.

As for race take a look at blues from dreamscarred and see if they do your idea. If not think of what the race as a whole will be good at.

If your dm is insane try asking for a nilbog lol.


I'll let my players play a nilbog, but they must say everything backward.

Or...

Backward everything say must they but, goblin a play players my let I'll.


Nilbog is an awesome race. Even if you must make saving throws around them all the time

Advanced scores are way too OP for 4 rp, how about...

Yodoblin (See what a did there?)

Type- Humanoid (goblinoid)(gnome)

Size-Small

Speed- 30 Feet

Ability Scores- +2 Dexterity +2 Wisdom or Intelligence -2 Strength

Darkvision: Yodoblins have darkvision out to 60 feet.

Force: Yodoblins can cast Mage Hand and Detect Thoughts each once per day as a Spell-Like ability (Your Caster Level is equal to your character level).

Understand, I do: Yodoblin gain a +2 racial bonus to Sense Motive, Stealth and Linguistics checks.

Weapon Familiarity:Yodoblins treat Nunchaku and Whips as martial weapons, and are always proficient with Laser Torches.

Zen: Yodoblin gain 1 point of Ki per day.

Fun, no?

Use that if you was a basis for the mental powers. 5 rp is a steal for two at wills and detect thought once a day.


All of these are good ideas, I am curious how to best use the idea. I looked at the nilbog and it is funny but that confusion aura would be annoying at hell for any party members. But the reverse damage is sweet.
