Question on Slashing Grace

Rules Questions

The feat Slashing Grace says:
"Prerequisite(s): Dex 13, Weapon Finesse, Weapon Focus with chosen weapon.

Benefit: Choose one kind of one-handed slashing weapon (such as the longsword). When wielding your chosen weapon one-handed, you can treat it as a one-handed piercing melee weapon for all feats and class abilities that require such a weapon (such as a swashbuckler's or a duelist's precise strike) and you can add your Dexterity modifier instead of your Strength modifier to that weapon's damage. The weapon must be one appropriate for your size."

So if I choose longsword I add Str on hit and Dex on damage? Does it have any sense for non Swashbuckler character? Is there any way to hit on Dex and to damage on Dex with this feat?
Thx

Just Dex to damage. If you have effortless lace, you can make any one-handed weapon finessable. So you can get Dex to hit and Dex to damage.

With Weapon Focus, Weapon Finesse, Effortless Lace, and Weapon Versatility, you can get dex to hit and damage with a heavy shield.

Correct.

If you don't have the swashbuckler's/Champion's Finesse class feature, you'll want to find a finessable weapon that meets those criteria - the Aldori dueling sword and whip are popular.

Alternatively, in the upcoming errata, it's believed that the feat will be expanded to include light weapons as well.

Does that answer your question? ^_^

This is also a valid method - note that the effortless lace is not PFS-legal, however.

Thank you very much!

How can I know if something is legal in PFS? And what does mean PFS and what is it?

If you don't know what it is, don't worry too much. ^_^

PFS stands for Pathfinder Society. It's an organized play system for playing Pathfinder. You can learn more here.

So all the legal stuff in PFS are in the Pathfinder reference? Inner sea world guide isn't legal?

Not precisely. A list of PFS-legal content can be found here.

And if you aren't playing in Pathfinder Society, then it's between you and your GM... you don't have to worry about what PFS does.

thank you very much!

Note that some (myself included) do not believe that this works. Weapon Versatility allows you to do a different sort of damage with your weapon. It does not change the weapon's damage class. A weapon is eligible for Effortless Lace or it is not.

I'm with SlimGuage. Weapon Versatility changes the damage a weapon does, it does not change what a weapon is. Effortless Lace (and similar abilities) cares about what a weapon is.

Yeah, but so long as you have spikes, Effortless Lace is fine. I guess the problem is getting Slashing Grace on to it afterwards.
