I'm going to be playing in a Society special this Sunday and I was going over my character sheet, and I suddenly realised that Planar Wild Shape might not work on a Treesinger. It might just be old wording, but if it is incompatible, I'd like to retrain before that happens.
Relevant texts (emphasis mine):
Treesinger wrote:
At 4th level, a treesinger gains the ability to wild shape. This ability functions at her actual druid level. A treesinger cannot use wild shape to adopt an animal or elemental form. Instead, when she gains this ability at 4th level, she can assume the form of a Small or Medium plant.
Planar Wild Shape wrote:
When you use wild shape to take the form of an animal, you can expend an additional daily use of your wild shape class feature to add the celestial template or fiendish template to your animal form.
Seeing as they're different subtypes completely, I'd imagine it if Planar Wild Shape wouldn't allow a Celestial Shambling Mound, for instance. But since the feat comes from Ultimate Combat (2011) and the Treesinger from the ARG (2012), I'd imagine they never really thought of Druids changing in something else other than animals (or elementals).
Would I be able to apply PWS to my plant forms, or not? Also, I bought a Druid's Vestment just to compensate for the fact that I'd be eating up twice as many wildshapes. In the end I never really needed it, but if PWS turns out to be a dud, would it be reasonable to resell it at full value, just like a retrain would hopefully be free, since it's purchased in error? I'd never have wanted the item if I didn't have PWS.Thanks all.
