Help me makle a grappler eidelon

Advice

Just as the title says, I am looking for ideas on building a grapple-focused eidelon. I am not looking to deal damage, just incapacitate enemies. I like the idea of something with several arms flailing them madly while drooling and gnashing its teeth scrambling and climbing over enemies while pinning them... I want them to feel fear as they find themselves unable to move in the clutches of a truly hideous beast...

Simple- grab evo and sticky evo. That is a total +8 to grappling, and you can start one as a free action after a hit.

Maybe attach it to a bite and get swallow whole. Since you lack the int for regular grapple feats, that seems to be an alternative for debilitating enemies. Obviously you have to be fairly big so you can do this regularly, as well as get awesome bonuses to str and cmb due to the change in size.

Do extra limbs provide any bonuses to grapple?

...honestly, it does not appear so in my limited knowledge

The limbs evo only grants a bonus to speed if it is for legs, and the grapple rules only mention the need for two free hands. Unlike with trip rules, extra limbs does not appear to grant a bonus.

I mean, extra limbs does mean more more attacks to have the grab evo with. It seems like the grab evo applies with all of the same attack type. So if you have six arms with claws, you only need grab once to get 6 grapple attempts in the same full attack.

Eidolon's can only use grab on things smaller then them.

Its fairly limiting.

Bummer! I was looking forward to this build... there could be a Synthesist approach to this I suppose...

It still gives that +4 though- that clause comes after the size one.

And if you go huge, you can grab horses and some forms of giants.

As a Synthesist I would be able to pick up Improved Grapple, as I use my own Int score, rather than the Eidelon's.

So with the grab bonus, I would get a +10 between the Feat, Grab evo, and Sticky evo.

Well, you really want greater grapple, which allows you to maintain the grapple as a move action, thus allowing more grapple checks per round and improving you action economy- it lets you move to pin the enemy much more easily.

So that would be a +12 since it also gives another +2

At 8th level the +8 to str from large size, +1 cmb for large size, +6 bab, and assuming at least a base str score of 20 for biped, 18 for quad, and 16 for serpent after scores increases...

That gives a grapple CMB of:

+6 BaB
+1 Size
+4 Grab evo
+4 Sticky Evo
+7 to +9 str
+2 Improved Grapple Feat
+2 Greater Grapple

Total Grapple Maneuver Bonus at 8th level: +26

Now, there perhaps exist other ways to improve this?

Grand Lodge

Enlarge Person for another +2
WF (grab linked attack) +1
Buffs (such as Haste) variable, but usually a +1 at least
Flanking +2

AoMF +1 or +2, depending on how much cash you have for it

So there is another +8, for a grand total of +36 (assuming biped). Not bad over all.

Linked Attack is a feat, I take it?

Never mind, I got it. Not a feat. :P Derp*

You seem to have deciphered my gibberish, but for those who have not and read the thread for help:

When you make a combat maneuver because of an attack or with a weapon, you may add any bonuses you have with that weapon to your CMB.

For example, someone with a +1 whip and weapon finesse and weapon focus may use their DEX instead of STR and gains a +2 over what their CMB would normally be counted at. +1 from the Weapon Focus feat and a +1 from the magic of the whip.

In the specific example of grappling eidolon, taking WF with claws/bite and getting the grab ability on that attack allows you to count the +1 bonus from the feat. Same with an Amulet of Mighty Fists.

Conversely, the penalty from Power Attack or Combat Expertise would also apply, if you used either of those.

Take a look at the scorpion eidolon that I am trying to make that is pretty recent on forum
