[Spoilers] So this just happened

Party went straight for the tower in Feldgrau, one of them flew into it ahead of the team, and then, using Clarion Call, boomed out "COME TO THE TOWER!".

So they just "aggroed" the whole town. I'm ruling that most skeletons don't actually hear that, but festrogs and cultists will swarm towards that location. Acretia would probably do so as well. The demon wolves would probably hold their position, though they'd look for Duristan and have him be ready to set up the party if they make it out of the tower alive.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Auren Vrood was flying 90 feet over the embattled party.

Two of them had flown away. The rest was on the ground, the slayer was facing a cloudkill wave, the fighter was plowing through a horde of festrogs that rushed into the tower, the investigator was panicking and curled over in a corner, the dragon disciple was on her last few hit points (16 HP and could only take 2 Con damage before dying).

They had managed to kill Acretia by some a lucky crit and heavy resource expenditure, dispersing the now masterless wraiths. But Vrood still had a full repertoire of spells to rain upon them. (They had survived Circle of Death, sadly.)

Vrood charged a touch attack against the dragon disciple, to finish her off.

Roll the touch attack.

Natural 1.

Ok, critical fumble deck.

Magic fumble.

"You summon a creature as a summon monster spell of the spell used. That creature tries to attack you."

Roll to see what creature Vrood gets.

Constrictor Snake.

Snake attempts to grapple as it materializes.

Succeeds.

Vrood is now over light encumbrance.

Vrood plummets down into a bloody pulp.

The Fighter managed to kill off all the festrogs with his Vicious weapon. He finally had 1 HP.

Leeroy Jenkins into town, 1's and 20's all over the place, it's the only time I feel alive.

God bless the dice.

I can't remember, but is this not the tower that every living thing that dies becomes a Haunt of equal CR? If so, the party still has their work cut out for them ...

That's Renchurch, in book 6

Ahh yes, thanks. Maybe the will try the same tactic then too and enjoy their surprise. :)

Whelp, they survived most of it but eventually Adimarus and his Demon Wolves launched their attack in a bid to obtain the packlord's heart (which they thought the PCs had).
Killed three PCs. Good for you, Adimarus!

Could have killed a fourth one but the dice weren't in his favor.
