Being drunk in PFS

Pathfinder Society

Some classes/feats/traits have features that require either drinking or being flat-out wasted. I know it's mentioned in the DMG, but in PFS are there effects from either of those or is it simply a role-playing thing?

Just this.

With PFS basically being played RAW (some table variance withstanding), you'd really have to be drinking for it to even matter. Basically it's more of a RP perspective more than anything.

Oh this is in character, Im always drunk at PFS (not really) :-)

Hail Cayden, and pass the booze.

For at least one of these powers it is irrelevant because the power replaces the normal effects of alcohol with the effect described.

"Oi.. I'm jesss... a social drinker." One dwarf says with a broad grin as he waved a hand over his ever present mug. "I hear someone say.. 'I'll have a drink'... I go.. 'Social I!"

I thought this was about drunk players.

The gaming store I play PFS at serves craft beers(and ice cream), and on occasion, have seen a player have just a little too much to drink.

I, myself, have ended up playing half a scenario buzzed.

Some of those heavy specialty beers are surprisingly strong.

Best excuse for live action role play ever.

Bring me another growler! I'm still sober!

I've been trying to find this out too, before making my drunken master. Input welcome!

We actually have a gameday at a video game bar (yes, they exist) that is 18+ only so this can be a real possibility. Just have to make sure it is with the right people. :)

Now that is a store that I want to play at!

So, funny thing, my "Workfinder" group (I.e. the group of coworkers I created a game day for once a month) plays at a local brew pub... We could have played in a conference room at work, but they mostly agree a place with beer is better.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I wrote a mini-adventure (half length, only playable at Cons) for Living Greyhawk called, "Drinking Buddies." It featured a halfling and an ogre with a penchant for knackleberry wine. The first time is was scheduled to run was during the "Midnight Madness" slot at a large local Con and most of the participants decided to take the title literally. It was...interesting.

I have a character that i now refuse to play without first having some drinks. I do this because by happenstance i played the first 17 scenarios with her while drinking and i cannot let the tradition die.

Here in Mid-Michigan we've started a two day PFS con at a Winery/Brewery so players can drink and dice if they so choose. It is of course called Tavern Con.

Now this sounds like a great idea!!!

Well, it helps that one of my best friends is the Vintner there and his family owns the place. :) Last year they gave us a good deal on renting their upper area, this year they gave us a great deal. Apparently the bunch of nerds last year gave them pretty good business. :)

Here in Beervana (might start some craft beer wars with that), our primary gaming location is a private floor of a bar. We rent the space weekly. There has been the occasional player that I thought was a little bit too sloshed to play but nothing seriously disruptive. I feel fortunate that my local area as some awesome people involved.

Oh someone else said it... To Cayden!!
