Finding a GM

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

Hello everyone,
This is my first post and I haven't used these forums before so bear with me. I was wondering if there were any tools here or anywhere else that would help me find a GM. I have used the subreddit /r/lfg but haven't had any luck. I have also searched through local meetups but can't seem to find anything other than the local PFS meetup. I have done PFS in the past but I think I would enjoy a home game much more. I have a few friends who would be interested if I could only find a GM. I am in the Raleigh NC and am a current graduate student at NCState.

Have you considered GMing yourself? Situations like yours are how GMs are born.

I have considered it. But I'm not familiar enough with all the rules to really be an affective GM. And honestly, I'm not sure I would enjoy it.

Well if the friends your playing with are not to high strung then not knowing all the rules is not a big issue, you can always look them up and when in doubt just give +/- 2 to a roll.

Bigger issue is if you don't think it would be fun for you. The game should be fun for all players including GM.

Can't say I know how to find a GM since I usually GM myself but good luck!

Put up posters at local library (school library )
Put up posters at local game store (book store if no committed game store)

Talk to your friends, and agree on rotation of gm'ing... The "naturals will emerge, and rulemastery will come

Ask around at the pfs meets...

Have you posted in the Gamer Connection section of the Paizo messageboards?

You could also use PFS as a way to network finding people that you'd enjoy playing a home game with. It lets people get to know you (and you them!) before you make the commitment to do a home game with.

If your PFS meetup is at a game store or something of the sort, see if the owners/staff there possibly know of someone looking for people. That's how I got connected with my group.
