Wrath promos

Pathfinder Adventure Card Game General Discussion

got my goblin ally promo yesterday, anyone know how you get the barrier one? (temptation of the big die)?

Temptation of Big Die is the Convention Promo. So you'll need to be at a convention where Paizo is giving them away. (Or be a subscriber of course.)

And, the obvious question from Captain Obvious (me):

How do you get the Sweet Goblin Costume promo?

I couldn't stop laughing when I saw that. In our home Jade Regent game we have an NPC named "Dragon" which is a goblin in a dragon costume.

Just wait til you see Ekkie. Best promo ever. :D

Show me these cards! Post them online!!!! RAWR!!!

Grand Lodge

I've loved that Goblin Dragon ever since I first saw the art either on the blog of the GMG (can't remember which came first).

Is there a subscription only distributed promo card?
The last one? The blessing?

Grand Lodge

No, there isn't.

Thanks Theryon

Looks like we are getting a spell and a blessing this month. I'd hazard a guess that one of those might be a subscriber only promo while the other is a retail promo.

This month is what adventure deck number?
Still expecting adventure deck 4 to arrive in THIS month here in Germany...
German customs office is quite busy.

Hopefully, Vic will say something to the subscriber promo... Also I noticed the annoucement for the GTM promo was made too late for me... I was licky a friend of mine got one for me.

Could you please announce the special promo giveaways more early?
GTM, subscriber only promo, Free RPG day, etc....

Please...

The October release (aka this month's release) is Deck 6. The GTM promo was also included in subscriptions for that month (I think that was part of Deck 4 which explains why you haven't seen it yet). At this time, the only promos that have not also appeared in subscriptions are the ones from the Iconic Heroes line.

I agree with you that a more clear and upfront promo schedule is desirable. I really liked what Paizo did for the Skull & Shackles promos where they devoted a section at the bottom of the FAQ listing them all and what type of promos they were (although the section was sadly not kept up to date), but I see no such thing for Wrath of the Righteous at all.

I'll see about getting one of those up.

AWESOME!

May be for Mummys Mask you could do before release sth. Like

- Free RPG day promo - Which day?
- GTM - which magazine number?
- Convention promo in Adv. Deck X
- Subscription only promo in Adv. Deck Y

Is this possible?

Found another funny thing...

I am still waiting for the SS promo anouncement in February 2015...

See here...

Needs to be fixed as well.

Then finally, we know what is going on...

Here's the deal: When we send a set to the printer, we send more promo cards than we actually have established uses for. We know we'll want a retail promo for each of the 6 months, and a convention promo if the set is launching in summer, and a Free RPG Day pack once per year, and then we usually send a couple more. Sometimes opportunities to use those unslotted promos come up early, and sometimes they come up late—even the very last minute. (In the case of one S&S promo card, late in the run, we made arrangements to use one of the unslotted cards for a distributor promotion, but I didn't actually find out when that promo was happening until after it had already happened. But I did make sure it got to subscribers as soon as it was appropriate to do so.) So we can't tell you in advance about all of them, because we don't *know* about all of them.

Also, I have never specifically planned subscriber-only promos. While a couple of cards have gone only to subscribers to date, there is always the possibility that they might be distributed some other way in the future.

Thanks for the insight, I can see why that would make prepublishing a promo schedule more difficult. However, I don't believe that it would impact the goal of getting the FAQ section for promos established as an official/easy reference point.

Even something like "There are 9 planned promotional cards for Mummy's Mask to be released to subscribers and via other channels.

February 2016: Retail promo for Base Set
March 2016: Retail promo for Adventure Deck 2
April 2016: Retail promo for Adventure Deck 3
May 2016: Retail promo for Adventure Deck 4
June 2016: Retail promo for Adventure Deck 5
July 2016: Retail promo for Adventure Deck 6
Other promos To Be Announced. All details are subject to change."

and then after each set is shipped off, updating it to actually include names and the dates/counts for floating promos. Updating every month seems like it shouldn't take a ton of work (since the updates themselves are likely quick to perform), but I understand it's Yet Another Thing To Do(tm) and you're all quite busy. If a less frequent update schedule would make it more workable, I'd be fine with that too.

The benefits for doing this are mainly for non-subscribers, to be honest, as subscribers get them all anyway. Having the generic "there's one retail promo per release" up will clarify for those people new to the game that they can get a promo card every month if they subscribe or buy sooner with their FLGS rather than holding off. Updating after-the-fact with names will help collectors attempting to complete sets know the names of all of the promos as well as what distribution channels they were through, in case that assists them somehow in obtaining them. For example, if a convention promo is announced and put up on the FAQ, people would know to check for that when they get in. Or if a promo appears in Game Trade Magazine and they miss the blog post about it, they can still find it on the FAQ. Being a one-stop reference assists greatly with that versus digging around on the site.

Paizo Employee Chief Technical Officer

Yeah, I've been meaning to do that update. (I got put off it when I couldn't figure out exactly how or when that one distributor promo card was given out.)
