Greetings! As the title suggest, my friends and I are about to start he Skulls and Shackles campaign in a few months once we finish with the Shattered Star.
That said, Ratfolk have taken my interest, and try as I might I can't seem to decide on a class! I know it has to be evil, and I'm quite fine with that as I've came up with a backstory for a variety of situations, but that's neither here nor there.
What would you suggest, for an evil ratfolk? I can list some things below that interest me, maybe that'll help!
Chosen Deity if applicable: Probably Asmodeus
Class-type interests: Barbarian type classes, some sort of unholy magic user, the monk interests me as well - particularly the Hungry Ghost Monk (Follower of Zura maybe?), and to a much lesser extent summoners.
I want to stay away from necromancy, as that's what I -usually- do. Based on some of what I listed above, would any of you fine folks be able to make a suggestion? It could be a vote or comment in favor of one of the above listed, or something from personal recommendation! Thanks in advance for any help regarding the matter.

A Ratfolk would make a pretty good Cartomancer. Sling out bestow curse spells and other nasty stuff from a distance.

Ratfolk witches have one of the nicest racial favored class bonuses in Pathfinder, +5 feet to the range of typically 30-range hexes. Putting just a few levels into it can mean enemies have to double move to get next to you, or with enough investment possibly not be able to charge you as easily, which is one of the witch's biggest issues: having to be so darn close to enemies relative to a lot of other casters by necessity
They also pretty much have perfect ability modifiers for the class.

Out of curiosity, do you need to be evil because the rest of your group is planning on playing that way? Skull & Shackles is built to be more of a chaotic neutral campaign, and while of course you can go the more evil route, you're not forced to. In fact...
That said, even if you do go evil, Asmodeus may not be your best bet, as the Shackles has a very chaotic bent to them, more so than evil. Worshipping Asmodeus will probably put you at odds with your crew just as much as the enemies you'll encounter.

Currently playing Skulls and Shackles as a NE druid. It's fun to take a break from the goody-two shoes heroe role, and get mean and vile.
If I was going to play ratfolk, I'd go alchemist. Try to figure out ways to sneak aboard othr ships at port, poison their rum, food and water, then wait for them to leave port. Give them a day or two to ingest tainted supplies and get sick or die, then BAM! Free ship to take back for squibbing, selling and looting. Very in line with the "rat" concept and puts your class abilities to use.
Great way to earn admiration from NPC crew, & appreciation of your captain.
