Just a Boy from Brooklyn VMC Advice

Just a Boy from Brooklyn

I wanted to use that build in a game, running an AP but not sure which yet either Kingmaker or RotRL

But I wanted to add in the VMC for the Bard, so I would lose feats from level 3,7,11, etc

Though I am wondering, can I stop taking VMC levels when I want? I mean if say I got my Inspire Courage from level 7, could I drop the VMC for Bard and just go back to my normal progression?

How can I alter the linked build to allow for at least the first two feat replacements.

I can use Flaws (My DM likes flaws)

Are you asking if you can start taking an archetype and then just go back to the normal version of the class?

Once your begin an archetype, the class is permanently changed. You can't go back to the unmodified version of the class. All levels you take in that class will have the changes dictated by the archetype. As for variant multi-classing its still new and I am not as familiar. I would guess it is the same thing: once you begin it you are all in. You'll have to read the page in Unchained and see what it says. Of course, you should really talk to your GM and discuss what will happen. Some people don't mind a house rule.

Liberty's Edge

Yeah, VMC is all or nothing.

Shield Brawler needs more feats than you may realize. VMCing is not a recommended option.
