![]() I was always told that if you started 1 level behind without RHD you take a level behind so at level 2 your guy is a level 1. But when you get between level 3 and 4 you trade out that CR level for a class level so when the party reaches 4th level the guy who has been a level behind the entire time is now on par with the party. ![]()

![]() Ok so I had someone bring to me this idea, it was a player who sometimes pitches me ideas for event bosses or just random and fun ideas. Ghoran
So I thought that was cool I figured a Groot like character a Lame Wood Oracle would be nice and have some power. Maybe add Advanced onto him to make him a little stronger along with just being a higher level. Then he shows me Green Warden
Would this be worth it for a boss fight (Non-lethal most likely) with the creature having 1 less level then the party but having all these abilities? I don't want them to just kill off the boss in a few rounds, I want it to become clear that this thing is using non-lethal on them and figure its just trying to keep them away from something or is misunderstanding their intentions. 20 point buy as the party has a 25 point buy. Level 5 to start currently I might hold this off for a few levels. What concerns me is the Spell-like abilities like Treestride as an at-will. Good lord that could be a TPK set up in a forest setting. You would have more luck fighting Nightcrawler from the X-Men then this guy. Honestly would be a bad-ass PC for the next time I PC rather then game but again holy hell the power boost of this guy for a CR +1. I know its third party but it is a clever idea if nothing else. ![]()
![]() Ok so say you used the VMC or Gestalt rules. And you gained either Arcane Deed to get Precise Strike or went with Swashbuckler and got Spiked Light Shield. Would it be worth it to add level to damage with your shield on a Shield champion build? I know Shield Champion does not work well with VMC as it is feat intensive. ![]()
![]() I wanted to use that build in a game, running an AP but not sure which yet either Kingmaker or RotRL But I wanted to add in the VMC for the Bard, so I would lose feats from level 3,7,11, etc Though I am wondering, can I stop taking VMC levels when I want? I mean if say I got my Inspire Courage from level 7, could I drop the VMC for Bard and just go back to my normal progression? How can I alter the linked build to allow for at least the first two feat replacements. I can use Flaws (My DM likes flaws) ![]()
![]() Druid loses Wildshape till level 6, which is 2 levels behind normal. Druid//Arcanist is a nice combo no doubt, but I don't know about wildshaping as I have never used it before. Though I do admit this would be a good combo. Maybe drop one level of Druid for Scholar which keeps Int to Armor as a wildshape which makes the AC pretty decent because though he can revive pretty easy I dont want him dying every fight. He does incure a 2 negative level penalty every time he reincarnates. ![]()
![]() So I wanted to make a gestalt that is basically a very Lich like character at least in the way he revives after being taken down. As we all known some casters are very squishy as a form of balance, well I say screw that and lets find a way to make them harder to keep down. Enter the Reincarnated Druid, a druid that at level 5 when killed can reincarnate into a new form. follows an established table but some of the choices are not so bad. I want my main class, the one I take from 1-20 to be the Arcanist, which I see as a superior class, if you can afford the intense MADness of it. The Int and Cha are hard enough, the Druid now requires at least ok Wis given that at level 5 you only need a 13 to be able to cast those spells. I am not sure which race I want to take with this however, I can use some 3rd party and I plan on taking advantage of that after 5th level especially with a dip into a 3rd party Scholar class for Int to AC and a free Skill Focus on a single Knowledge roll, a +1 to all Knowledge rolls as well. So I am stuck with any non metal armor, which seems like it will be a pain, so maybe I will take Kensai Magus after my druid levels (And one scholar level) to gain Int to Ac as a dodge bonus it will stack with the Scholar levels. So because I can revive from death of old age I am going to start Venerable for that +3 to all mental stats, my physical stats will be reset when I reincarnate so I don't have to worry about the -9 to physical scores. Any advice on a race that would work best?
Edit: the table roll for stats ended with 18, 16, 16, 14, 14, 14 |
