I recently picked up Ultimate Campaign as I want to co-opt the Kingdom rules for my game but I had some questions.
When the rules talk about kingdom size this is in hexes?
Unless there is a recruitment cost listed for the example armies they are essentially free (assuming they are a logical choice for the particular kingdom) and then it's just the weekly consumption (maintenance) cost that needs to be paid?

Psi is spot on: just to note that the rules do not refer to "mustering" as a rules term, but it's a very convenient shorthand, and mustering armies actually uses your city building capacity (so, for example, if you can build 3 cities, you can build one city, muster a new army, and repair an injured army in one turn, but couldn't build a second city).

Personally, I plan ahead. I would only use the exploration rules if my map had a particularly boring area being explored and I wanted to spice it up a bit (which I actually did in my last Kingdom-based game) and I wanted some thought prompts on what to include in each hex.
