Hey all,
For a home-game I have been playing, we have been given a slight hint that the next session will involve a lot of water. I've already been informed of the usefulness of air crystals and potions/scrolls of touch of the sea, but are there any other cheap items that can be useful for dealing with lots of swimming/underwater action? Either something that would add to those items mentioned above, or something that is better than those?
Thanks!
Travis

Scroll Box (Waterproof), Waterproof Bag (Rounds worth of submersion), Waterproof lantern, sunrods etc (or something with light cantrip so you can see), Airbladder/Floatation device (Cheap round extenders). Maybe a buoy for marking areas. Elixer of swimming, and Bottle of air are more expensive options as well.

Air Crystals are actually pretty bad unless you are constantly being dispelled or crafting them yourself.
A potion of air bubble costs the same, allows you to open your mouth and doesn't kill you if you are prevented from using a free action each turn,
I was thinking the benefit of air crystals is that you could stretch them out - i.e. they provide 6 seconds of air for every round you chew (for a maximum of ten rounds) but you could potentially hold your breath in between chewing. A potion of air bubble lasts ten rounds, no matter what

It's not the most cost effective way of getting water breathing, or the easiest to use, but if you can use it, a scroll of Alter Self. Change into something with a swim speed, which because of the rules for Polymorph spells, also allows you to breath while swimming. Add on a +2 to Str/Dex for size, and possible natural attacks, maybe even Darkvision. Not bad for a 2nd level spell, and something that doesn't become useless if you never come across large bodies of water again.
Lizardfolk is my form of choice for water, though they don't get Darkvision, so having a magical light source definitely helps. Which since it's a Bard/Wizard spell, hopefully you can cast light.

Problem with polymorph is, unless you are a druid you will likely lose a lot of your class functionality. No weapons, probably no spells, no armor, etc.
