True, but this time they know what the problem was. This estimate should be more reliable than the ones when they didn't know what exactly had gone wrong.

We will need to rerun the lottery. A significant number of lottery participants were completely skipped. Took us a while to figure out what happened where, but we are currently rerunning results, checking them and will push live as soon as we are confident it worked.

Dark Archive

I would prefer this to happen tonight personally.

It WOULD be the safer bet ... and way less stressful for the minions.

(Though of course it'd be bad for other people that can't be available tomorrow ... no good options.)

Dark Archive

I'll be honest Friday would be terrible for me at least I'd rather stick with the current schedule. Even if it is getting late.

I guess this is no longer the case, right? It's understandable, if the whole lottery needs to be re-run because some people were left out.

Dark Archive

I hope they do go back in and fill up the unfilled lottery seats before opening up registration, as now we all have to quickly look through to see what we wanted that wasn't assigned, make a split second decision as to what to sign up for, and then hope that no one else took the few openings in that time frame. For those of us hoping to play with a buddy, that makes getting in now that much harder, as there's no guarantee that you'll both get a seat if multiple people hit the sign up button at the same time. The whole point of the lottery was that everyone had an equal chance to get into everything, and that obviously didn't happen for many of us. This is our first PaizoCon, so I guess we don't know what we're missing if we don't make it into a special, con only game, but knowing that we *could* have made it in if we had only been coordinated enough to hit the button a second faster is kinda irksome. At least it sounds like we'll make it into one, if not both of, the specials, so at least we'll have something.

Edit: Apparently I should reread the posts before I hit submit...

Any chance we can get an email 30 minutes before it's open? That would be far preferable than "as soon as it's ready".

A specific time please. That it fair.

Don't care if it's today or tomorrow or this weekend, just need a time.

Some kind of forewarning would indeed be appreciated. I'm juggling this at work between customers.

It has been nearly an hour since that last official update. Is it possible to get a status report?

Do you want timely status reports, or would you rather they keep working on the problem?

I don't feel taking a moment or two to inform the public is unreasonable.

If the public is demanding those moments every 30 minutes, it can greatly detract from the workflow. But you're welcome to demand whatever you like.

I'm with Haunted Jester, constant updating on a forum takes a few seconds. It will help alleviate the worries and stress of all of us. What isn't helpful is comments that add nothing to the discussion and only condescend to others. We all know that goblins are great at getting into the interwebs and mucking around and breaking things, so lets just be patient and understanding.

Just got back from picking up kiddo from Daycare. Tech team is rolling fix to site and then I'll hopefully have a more accurate/informed update.

Personally, I'm hoping to get this over with tonight at 8pm PST as stated... This is my first paizocon and I'm currently out of the country in a place with unreliable internet access. So, I had set time aside today to register and now paizo drops the ball big time. I understand that it's nobody's fault and that the staff at paizo are working very hard to mend the damage, but what happens to the people who had set time aside days/weeks in advance just to register today at 2pm? Is it fair for these people to have a lower chance of getting the events of their choice because they have to work or attend another commitment when the registration finally opens? What are the people over at paizo going to give us to make up for this?

I am inconvenienced as the next guy, but I don't think paizo owes us anything. It was a glitch it's been a pain in the butt however things happen. There isn't going to be a perfect answer but I for one am confident that the guys and gals at paizo are doing the best they can with a crummy situation.

That's a good sign, at least. It tells me "we are *this* close just bear with us" versus another 1-3 hour extension.

I was thinking Tom Pettys waiting is the hardest part.

Ha! Even better!

Dark Archive

Great it starts tomorrow exactly when I need to punch in for work I already begged out early tonight for the first delay. I know no one is to blame but right now I am incredibly frustrated.

Dark Archive

Or not. Everything is rolled to tomorrow @ 2:00 PM CST. =/

Frustrating, as it went from something I can do after work to something I can't. Not much to be done.

arrrgggh!! See you all tomorrow.

Looks like the time got changed to tomorrow at 3EST. So glad I have tomorrow off. Can't blame 'em for pushing it back that far. Hopefully everything gets worked out. Thanks for all the hard work, guys.

It COULD just be a placeholder until they release. I'd wait for official word.

I am really sorry folks, but we are going to have to push this out until tomorrow 12:00pm PST. I tried very hard to prevent having such a long delay but there are a couple issues that need resolution before we can open things up.

I believe that's PST, not CST.

Silver Crusade

Well, I hope the PFS scenarios I want are open for 4 or 5 hours after events open. Tomorrow is a long work day.

Grand Lodge

Thanks. Knowing is better. Good luck Paizo folks.

who do you talk to about refunds?

Now won't be able to register until saturday.

Why noon that screws people with jobs.

Highly doubtful. I am in the same boat. **** screwed*** because nothing will be available 5 hours after it starts.

Thanks paizo

Ouch. Um I have a few questions: When you said earlier that you'd have to do the lottery again, did you mean the special events? And 2, did any of the open events get full? Because some claimed to have some people in them without letting me press the button to join. I sure hope this can be resolved before I have to go to work later tomorrow, but I know things can't be helped. Thank you for all your hard work.

Dark Archive

they were starting from scratch . Everything got dude out and they were starting new.

I know our whole team behind PaizoCon regrets that this has generated so much (justified) confusion/frustration for everyone waiting to get at their event results. We've (the tech team, Sara and myself) been working the last nearly 6 hours to try to get this right, and we don't want people registering and then having to re-register because of the issues we've been running into. Rescheduling this last minute is not something anyone on our staff is particularly pleased about. Moving this to tomorrow ensures that we're in clear minds to correct the remaining issues and also keep people from staying up late into the night waiting on us to announce that it's opened. Thank you so much for your continued patience, and we're making notes of everything we're seeing to keep it from reoccurring in the future.

Well ... so does 2PM PST for most, as well as 6PM for people with night jobs, or weekends for people that had plans.

I am on-call right now with a fire department, so now isn't optimal and was at a different work at 2PM, and will be at noon ... though I can make that lunch as long as things don't fall apart ...

There is really no good time to pick.

You could do "friday events at noon", "Saturday events the next day at 2", "Sunday events at 10PM the next day" to make it as fair as possible ... but what a nightmare.

I guess those with the option to carry a smartphone everywhere with them will be doing so. I had no work today, so it was such a convenience, but...well, you know what they say about best laid plans...

Thanks and I feel for you! It's worked out every year and I've had great fun. I don't think I've ever gotten by first pick, and my random picks have been great finds.

BTW ... I'm sure you could find 20-50 of us in the future that would be willing to run through a dry run on the schedule. Use an actual schedule (with reduced events so we get collisions) and run through each step.

what about moving things another week? At least ppl would have time to plan and paizo would have time to work out ALL of the glitches...

Dark Archive

That's fair but starting at 3pm east coast sort of screws those of us who are at work. We planned and arranged for today and things went south I get that but please reconsider the start time for those who can't change work, schedules at the drop of a hat.
