I hope they do go back in and fill up the unfilled lottery seats before opening up registration, as now we all have to quickly look through to see what we wanted that wasn't assigned, make a split second decision as to what to sign up for, and then hope that no one else took the few openings in that time frame. For those of us hoping to play with a buddy, that makes getting in now that much harder, as there's no guarantee that you'll both get a seat if multiple people hit the sign up button at the same time. The whole point of the lottery was that everyone had an equal chance to get into everything, and that obviously didn't happen for many of us. This is our first PaizoCon, so I guess we don't know what we're missing if we don't make it into a special, con only game, but knowing that we *could* have made it in if we had only been coordinated enough to hit the button a second faster is kinda irksome. At least it sounds like we'll make it into one, if not both of, the specials, so at least we'll have something.
Edit: Apparently I should reread the posts before I hit submit...

I'm with Haunted Jester, constant updating on a forum takes a few seconds. It will help alleviate the worries and stress of all of us. What isn't helpful is comments that add nothing to the discussion and only condescend to others. We all know that goblins are great at getting into the interwebs and mucking around and breaking things, so lets just be patient and understanding.

Personally, I'm hoping to get this over with tonight at 8pm PST as stated... This is my first paizocon and I'm currently out of the country in a place with unreliable internet access. So, I had set time aside today to register and now paizo drops the ball big time. I understand that it's nobody's fault and that the staff at paizo are working very hard to mend the damage, but what happens to the people who had set time aside days/weeks in advance just to register today at 2pm? Is it fair for these people to have a lower chance of getting the events of their choice because they have to work or attend another commitment when the registration finally opens? What are the people over at paizo going to give us to make up for this?

I am inconvenienced as the next guy, but I don't think paizo owes us anything. It was a glitch it's been a pain in the butt however things happen. There isn't going to be a perfect answer but I for one am confident that the guys and gals at paizo are doing the best they can with a crummy situation.

I 100% agree.

Ouch. Um I have a few questions: When you said earlier that you'd have to do the lottery again, did you mean the special events? And 2, did any of the open events get full? Because some claimed to have some people in them without letting me press the button to join. I sure hope this can be resolved before I have to go to work later tomorrow, but I know things can't be helped. Thank you for all your hard work.

I know our whole team behind PaizoCon regrets that this has generated so much (justified) confusion/frustration for everyone waiting to get at their event results. We've (the tech team, Sara and myself) been working the last nearly 6 hours to try to get this right, and we don't want people registering and then having to re-register because of the issues we've been running into. Rescheduling this last minute is not something anyone on our staff is particularly pleased about. Moving this to tomorrow ensures that we're in clear minds to correct the remaining issues and also keep people from staying up late into the night waiting on us to announce that it's opened. Thank you so much for your continued patience, and we're making notes of everything we're seeing to keep it from reoccurring in the future.

Sara Marie wrote:I am really sorry folks, but we are going to have to push this out until tomorrow 12:00pm PST. I tried very hard to prevent having such a long delay but there are a couple issues that need resolution before we can open things up.Why noon that screws people with jobs.
Well ... so does 2PM PST for most, as well as 6PM for people with night jobs, or weekends for people that had plans.
I am on-call right now with a fire department, so now isn't optimal and was at a different work at 2PM, and will be at noon ... though I can make that lunch as long as things don't fall apart ...
There is really no good time to pick.
You could do "friday events at noon", "Saturday events the next day at 2", "Sunday events at 10PM the next day" to make it as fair as possible ... but what a nightmare.

Thanks and I feel for you! It's worked out every year and I've had great fun. I don't think I've ever gotten by first pick, and my random picks have been great finds.
BTW ... I'm sure you could find 20-50 of us in the future that would be willing to run through a dry run on the schedule. Use an actual schedule (with reduced events so we get collisions) and run through each step.
