The question is how far does "as if" go?

An example is the clear spindle resonant power protects against mind control as if protection from evil. So is that only against evil sources or all the same types of things that Pro Evil covers, but from any alignment? This phrase could use a precedent to clear up all things.

You're expecting a universally applicable clarification for this construction?

As if...

It is going to vary. There is no way to provide a perfect answer.

Pathfinder Maps Subscriber

Z does A as if B.

How does B do A ? Z does it the same way, but doesn't lose or gain anything not related to doing A.

This may need to be adjudicated on a case by case basis.

I was hoping this was going to be a thread on how to a pf conversion of Clueless.

Pathfinder is neither a programming language nor a legal code. Certain phrases like "as if" simply aren't universally translatable. Context matters.

AFAIK, the resonant power work only against evil.

As per RAW, only evil.

I know the current "RAW" is it's only against evil, but when I first read it I didn't think it was limited to only evil. This is why I'm using it as an example. If you feel it's not worth FAQing then don't, if you'd like to to see what answers we can get from a FAQ then FAQ this.

Scarab Sages

Right because the last "As if" rulings went with the broader option.

Just like rings of invisability when activated have a duration due to the "As if" verbage, "as if" applies for al aspects of the concept being "as if"ed unless otherwise stated
