Plant Companions body slots

Rules Questions

Silver Crusade

I'm trying to find any rules that cover if plant companions get body slots to wear items on. I've got a level 6 Treesinger druid with a sapling treant companion and wanted to find rules on allowing him to wear gear. All I've found is for animal companions and nothing on plant companions. Has paizo come out with any rules on them or if not can I get a paizo rep to look at this and give a ruling on it? Maybe they can come out with a paizo nature book to cover plant companions like they did with the animal archive book and companion book, feats, maybe add plantspeak spell for being able to speak as a plant, add shield companion type spell so it can work on plant companions too; stuff like that. You can even add nature type armors into it from other books and create new ones too. I'd buy it if it was created.

Plant companions are a special little subset of Animal Companions. I don't think there is enough material to support a book for them, but there might be a few things in the Heroes of the Wild.

As for rulings, treat them exactly like an animal companion, just with a plant subtype (Sheild companion should work just fine). Fortunately, as a Druid you can cast spells on your companion regardless of type (spells that you have prepared that is, no wands or scrolls), so things like Reduce Animal still work, too.

A sapling treant is basically humanoid in shape, so I would use those rules from the Animal Archive.

Do you have any other specific questions?

What book shows the slots for their body slots? I'm looking at the animal archive for body slot but not sure which they would be in. Do you know a book that would cover them for sure?

If its for a home game then yes just look in animal archive under Humanoid, as they more or less are.

Sadly for PFS you just get Neck and Barding as per the default rules.

Can Sapling Treant take the Extra Item Slot feat, since that feat says non-humanoids?

If you are playing PFS, yes. The campaign rules say that you can use the Extra Item Slot feat to open up a slot that is normally available for the AC's body type (humanoid in this case).

Right but the feat says Prerequisites is non-humanoid body shape so is the treant humanoid body shape were by disqualifying him for this feat?

I've had this same question concerning body slots on humanoid familiars.

This whole rules area is kind of poorly written, so the best you can expect is table variation.

For PFS its not humanoid shaped. its "Other" so yeah the feat is a go.
I have it on mine.

ok thank you
