There are entirely too many people running Adventure Paths with four and five letter acronyms!

WotR! please! if i wanted to be Kevin Costner as a Gillman i certainly didn't need an Adventure Path to do it.

Wait? WotR is a Pathfinder adaption of Waterworld isn't it? egads, i didn't totally misread that did i?

Anyway after life derailed our campaign by a good 5 months or so, we finally started last night :-D

First we shall meet the characters, all created using 4D6, dropping the lowest one, only get to reroll for new scores if 3 or more are below 10 (we haven’t had to do that yet)
Also everyone rolled in front of everyone else, so no cheating, not that I’d worry about that anyways, they’re a pretty scrupulous bunch☺

I shall list them from highest point buy to lowest, for those interested in such things:-)

First up is: Anne, N Android Fighter, Turquise hair and circuits. The Hired Muscle (64 point buy! Seriously!) Anne hates being called a Robot, or being made of fun at all in general, she does however have a soft spot for the other Android in the party, Jak. all we know about Anne is she’s 10 and has been working The Sellen River pretty much the whole time, she is also 5’6” tall with a 5’ long sword, so yeah Anne came looking to f#%& s$@# up!

:
Str: 17 Dex: 18 Con: 15 Int: 20 Wis: 15 Cha: 14; Feats: Power Attack, Combat Expertise; uses a Great Sword now but is saving up for a Chain Saw.
And for those wondering, she has no plans whatsoever of pursuing multi-classing into something more intellectually stimulating, she will use her Hawkings-esque brain primarily for smashing! (Oh, snap! Like the Hulk! Oh she is smart:-D)

Poe, CG Savage Elven Rogue (Numerian Scavenger), Purple Hair, with purplish tones and such to her skin, to more blend in with the purplish sandstone-esque badlands of Numeria The Tech Expert (37 point buy) She was born in Killbox in Starfall, an orphan that never knew her parents she has primarily been scavenging from the wreckage around Numeria to make ends meet her whole life, has a razor sharp wit.

:
Str: 15 Dex: 18 Con: 14 Int: 16 Wis: 12 Cha: 13, is a weapon finesse kind of lady, based very much on TankGirl:-p

Galileo Quartzhammer, CG Dwarven Oracle (Stargazer) normal looks… for a Dwarf:-p The Secret Agent for Andoran (24 point buy) sent to straighten this whole mess out, as only a dwarf can☺ of course it would probably work better if he didn’t tell everyone he was a Secret Agent sent from Andoran to straighten this whole thing out, as only a Dwarf could.

:
Str: 14 Dex: 13 Con: 15 Int: 10 Wis: 15 Cha: 14, Extra Revelation (Spray of Shooting Stars) for his feat

and finally last but not least, though he is in ability scores:-p)

Jak, CG Android Diviner, black hair with blue eyes and circuits, The Brains (20 point buy, that’s PFS legal! On rolled stats no less!) a long back story! Basically the Andoid that used his body last tried to publicly assissnate the Excellency of Andoran (or whatever his title is) and then before he was caught went through renewal or whatever and by the time the authorities got the body back to cast speak with dead someone else started using it (Jak so they handed him over for The Twilight Talons to figure out, was sent north with Galileo hoping the issues in Torch might spur some memories or etc, etc.

:
Str: 12 Dex: 16 Con: 13 Int: 16 Wis: 13 Cha: 10, has a familiar, a Toad named Frog loves and I mean loves Shocking Grasp, maybe even to a fault:-p

tonight after work I’ll write up our first session from Sunday, mostly introductions and investigations, not much combat, it is however quite funny, especially when Numerian Fluids are involved:-D

also if anyone feels like giving advice or dropping in go right ahead, i'll try to use spoiler tags for relevant plot stuff:-)

Looking forward to it. :)

I'll be running this down the line, so I'm looking forward to seeing how this goes. Do your players tend towards optimization, or are they more casual? Do you expect to change up the printed encounters?

I'm also looking forward to seeing the results of Numerian fluids...

Not really optimizers, sometimes through a fluke they do, much more organic, nothing is planned ahead as far as leveling goes

Thanks should be fun, fluids later :-)

Introductions

I love the introductions for a new campaign!
From now until she reaches a point to raise her abilities I shall refer to Anne as 64 bit Anne

Galileo and Jak had finally -after Abadar knows how many days- made it to Torch, where they met up with the Local Guide and Hired Muscle that Marshall Trellis had arranged for them.

So Jak walks up to Poe and introduces himself “Hi, my name’s Jak, I’m a Diviner”

Poe: So you find water then? Don’t you need a stick for that?”

Jak: Um, no I use Magic”

Anne: So, the magic helps you find the water then…..

Jak: No, the magic doesn’t help me find water

Poe (pointing to his Quarterstaff): well not with a stick like that, it needs two handles or whatever.

There was a bunch more Galileo said he was a Secret Agent sent by the Twilight Talons to investigate what happened in Torch, to which 64 bit Anne said “So, you just tell everyone that then?” Galileo: should I not do that…”

Investigations around Torch

Our intrepid heroes, after getting the low down from Galileo’s Auntie Dolga Freddert, who is coincidently also a town councilor (How Convenient:D)

“Listen, The Torch went out, Khonnir found some caves, a bunch of parties disappeared inside the caves, Khonnir found some weird Automaton…” 64 bit Anne “You can just call them Robots you know” Dolga glares at Anne “…. As I was saying, now Khonnir’s disappeared as well, I’d go find him myself, but you know, the S!#* don’t stop”

The party then went to Khonnir’s home to check up on his young daughter, Val and check out this Robot for themselves (GM note: due to the small size of the Val Pawn from the set I made her more a very mature and independent 8, which truth be told perfectly describes every 8 year old girl I’ve ever met) any way after hearing a scream and some knocking about in the Baine residence, 64 bit Anne burst through the door of the workshop in the house, 5’ long great sword drawn.
Before her stood a three legged obviously malfunctioning Robot wrecking up the place, which of course turned around and glared at 64 bit Anne before returning to its destruction, 64 bit Anne then said “Ahhhh….. someone else can get this one” and… stepped to the side, Jak (the next in line): Wait? What?.... Ahhh! Crap! Shocking Grasp!” which of course took it out with one shot!
After letting Val cuss out and kick the Robot they then spent the next three hours taking apart and harvesting the Robot for parts.
Poe: I get a wheel! Anne: it has legs!
Poe: fine whatever gimme a leg, and maybe some gears….”
Anne: I get the head! Pretty sure I can find someone to make a helmet out of it” (Gm Notes: I’m pretty sure I’m gonna have to have a look at the Piecemeal armor rules in Ultimate Combat)

”Why yes, I will drink some black sludge oozing out of the ground, with an obvious sheen of diesel”

So after loading Galileo down with the harvested Robot parts, our next destination was the crown of Black Hill to investigate the now unlit Torch of Torch.

(Now, I don’t know how other Gm’s players react when the GM asks with an eyebrow raised “does anyone want to try the black prismatic sheened fluid oozing out of the top of the hill?” mine, more often then not it turns out will drink it up)

Poe perhaps out of curiosity dipped her robot leg/club into the fluids and licked it off, of course it being random rolled a 64….. and spent the next hour “fascinated by visions of a far off reality” (with any interruption provoking rage)

Galileo, emboldened by his tripping companion, absently licking her robot leg and wandering about, decided to take a big ass gulp…. And rolled a 66, which is “exudes an unpleasant odor, as the Stench ability for 24 hours.

In a panic he asked Jak “don’t you know any spells that can get rid of this?” to which Anne, feeling unusually protective of Jak perhaps, replied “Oh, for Christ’s sake, he can only find water, he cant conjure it!”

So after dejectedly trying a tomato bath (which if anything only made it worse) Galileo glumly spent the rest of the day volunteering to pull waste carts out of town and up to Double Duce Drop the ravine where the town has been dumping their waste after the Torch went out. He then spent the rest of the night making a makeshift lean-to at the dump after everyone in town refused to let him inside after he made 3 horses, 5 pigs and 1 Skunk vomit in disgust.
The saving throw the next morning to avoid exhaustion was the only roll he got right the whole game.

Now its happy fun Zoo time but I’ll try to get the Black caves in tomorrow or the next day☺

I'm thinking about inserting Carrion Hill between FoC and LoR, the high stats should make up for the level discrepancy and I think it should work set in Chesed or even better Hajoth-Harkados

edit: i forgot to mention yesterday, i haven't changed things yet, its been a while since we played and i wanted to get them back up to speed without smearing them across the wall:)

as they get going i'll add hit points and advanced templates, i probably won't re-write any of the NPCs, but we'll see.

also i'm not really a plan ahead sort of GM, i'm not afraid of going off the trail, but i don't plan for it, i've found the more i plan ahead, the less "according to plan" they go (by that i mean my party) :-p

edit 2: it also helps that they tend to hit dungeons and such in one shot, they aren't the type to leave and come back later. fights start out super easy then get harder as spells and potions and wands are consumed:)

Sounds like you have a funny group going. I just started up myself and when it came time to mention the Numerian fluids on Black Hill, one of my players (whose PC is a Kellid barbarian named Barek) said, "I lick it."

My party doesn't need tempting to do obviously bad things. Half the party has Int and or Wis as a dump stat (25 point buy) and this campaign is really roleplay centric so they play their characters dumb. The Spellslinger, Techslinger and Warpriest of Sarenrae have to reign in the other three at all times. They actually wrestled the barbarian to the ground (took all three of them as they are all low strength 7, 10, and 12 respectively).

Nice to hear you got to have a lot of fun with it though!

(EDIT) Also it seems like your party has pretty well defined characters with some interesting inter-party relations and ties into the story, so kudos to you and your group.

That is hilarious:-)

yeah its funny how different adventure paths encourage different behavior, for example, for whatever reason, everyone splits up the party in Serpent's Skull (not just me either check the serpent's skull obituary page, everyone does it, super funny:-p), and Skull & Shackles very easily degenerates into cartoon villainy:-p

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Also my hats off to Neil Spicer for writing such an awesome opening chapter and especially to James Jacobs and Co. for completely ignoring the original nay sayers such as myself and doing it anyway, best adventure path yet!, i cannot say enough how very wrong i was:-)

And i hope they do the Diviner is a Diviner's rod thru the whole path, it cracks me up, especially when Anne's Player did it on top of Black Hill:-p

i was literally crying i laughed so hard:-D

Ahoy hoy,

since we didn't get too far into the black hill caves i've been waiting until we did get further in, i did not expect it to take so long.

But alas Easter, my suddenly fuller work schedule (13 hours!! in one week!!) and a sudden injury delayed us until yesterday, i'll get more in depth later after work (my god 4 hours!! on a Sunday!! f~*~ing savages is what they are!! i'm kidding my job is pretty fun:-p)

After they finished up the caves then went shopping which was hilarious in and of itself, its amazing what a person will buy with that first treasure hoard of 140 GP each.

Anne has purchased a Pig (named Snorty), 10 loaves of bread, 5 pounds of cheese, honey, and a Tea Ceremony Set (with tea, of course)

Jak got a bunch of alchemical s&%* like Vermin Repellent, an Abacus, a butterfly net and a few more scrolls of shocking grasp:-p

Poe, well Poe might have a problem Lol!
Loaded Dice
Marked Cards
Dartboard Set
100 Fortune Cookies
a lot of Dwarven Stout
Halfling Rations, 20 days!! (she is an Elf)
H2o Purification Sponge
Masterwork Stilts (adventuring in caves mind you)
A Ladder (again caves!)
A Periscope
And an Ear Trumpet (what the f&$# is an ear trumpet! lol!)

No i don't enforce encumbrance besides as Poe's Player says cheerfully "Thats what the dwarf is for" so yes the "Face" also carries the luggage:-p

comparatively Galileo's new spiffy chain shirt seems underwhelming..

anyway yes the caves,

:
Galileo was the only one blinded by the blindheim, Jak and Anne were the only ones to hit, Anne in particular caused serious damage the first round:)

they've yet to find the mold, made an accord with Sef, discovered Gremlins are massive a&&+!+!s, Anne walked into every trap, got sneaked attacked by every gremlin and almost died 3 times, luckily for them the Gremlins rolled as s~#@ty as them, still it was like 20 rounds for 4 gremlins (and i "forgot" the DR for the last one)

anyway maybe tonight after work we'll get into the actual

:
habitat module

I *know* those posts are over 256 characters!

Tis spring!

I can just chase them outside when I want to, not a Damn thing they can do, gotta love generations of parental precedent, sucked when I was a kid and *this close* to finally beating Double Dragon!
but now that the turntables have turned...
:-p

Also I upgraded my phone, so no more 256 word limit, still considering the bigger post took me 2 days on my computer i can't imagine how long that would've taken on the phone:-p

For those keeping track at home, they've fought

3 Fire Beetles
1 malfunctioning robot
1 blindheim
4 f%%&ing a!#~!*+ Jinkin Gremlins

so far they've gutted and cleaned (and the robot equivalent)

the Beetles,
Malfunctioning Robot
Blindheim
the Gremlins bodies got stuffed into a sack, smashed with a War Hammer and thrown into the Pit :-p

it turns out you can hurt an Android Fighter with a 64 point buy, just send a bunch of little a#$~#!#s with sneak attack:-p its especially funny because i use Fey all the damn time! gremlins especially!

maybe someday they'll learn:-)

Ear Trumpet:

Remember those old Looney Tunes and other old cartoons? Remember any time an elderly character was on screen, they'd have this horn-like thing that they'd hold up to one ear because all old people are near-deaf in old cartoons? That's an ear trumpet.

I believe one of the dwarves in the Hobbit films uses one as well. :)

For the more literary minded, one of the two charity workers that ask Ebenezer Scrooge for a donation is traditionally depicted as using one. I think Beaker played that role in Muppet Christmas Carol.

Correct on both counts.

Yeah I figured it out later :-)

It'll be fun watching her incorporate into the adventure path, the masterwork stilts might be the wild card tho, this is my wife's first time as a rogue, and she is loving it :-)

In fact this is the first campaign where everyone is totally engaged, usually I kinda had to lead them along, something about mixing magic and laser guns strikes a chord, awesome stuff :-)

I used my dad's antique oil funnel as one when I was a kid, he didn't like that, something about not being able to have nice stuff, never understood that.... now I do tho:-D

Oh oh, a tidbit I forgot to mention,

They refused to even pick up an Unholy Symbol worth 25gp, even after I told them good and neutral churches pay double just so they can be destroyed, to a person they were adamant that even carrying it was out of the question :-)

I know good churches only pay full price, they were so vehement about not carrying it I wanted to see if they had a price, they did not :-)

Its always nice when they do the right thing on their own, 200 experience points for everyone:-p

LOL! I had the exact same problem until I started having every temple of a good-aligned god have infinite gold and infinite ability to destroy "evil" items. Once the group knew they could drag anything remotely evil to any podunk temple of Sarenrae in the wilderness and get paid full price to have the item destroyed, they *finally* started picking them up.

Also if it was say a +1 Unholy Arc Pistol they would probably fight over who's first in line for conversion at the local church of Norgorber:-p

Anne's player is already eyeing the Death Ray in the Technology Guide
She likes to dream big:-p

I'm not really sure she'll need one to be honest

Nice read. Following along now.

Awesome!

And here i was thinking i'd have to go native and learn how to speak in Cricket:-p

they really need to come up with a mechanic for seeing how many people check out a thread, besides the favorite plus that no one knows about at first (i know it was years before i figured out what the little + in the corner was for, then another year before i figured out you could see who's doing it (its almost always Tacticslion by the way:-p)

Anyway should play tonight, and with my wife's gruesome garden injury no longer distracting everyone, the habitat module and silverdisk hall both on tap, it should be a classic:-) now i just gotta dig up how to gamble in pathfinder (i got one game from S&S 3, but will also look through some way finders, not really much in the GMG to work with...

Captain Yesterday fun fact: i don't gamble, can count the amount of lottery tickets i've bought on one hand, and have never ever been inside an actual Casino (tho i have seen Casino like 5 times:-p)

You could always try a few rounds of Dragon Poker.

Good one!
will look into that one more:-)

Hey, hey! I pop up! You just always know it because I make snarky comments!

But I have to agree -- I know that when I put my campaign journals on indefinite hiatus (FINALLY writing again after 2 months) I had posters I'd never even heard of before pop up with, "Er, is everything OK? Are you going to keep writing, please?"

It was very gratifying, but it would also be nice to know whether anyone was reading. (I gave up on my Second Darkness campaign journal because the total readership seemed to be smaller than my gaming group. *SIGH*)

I suspect it has something to do with the popularity of the given path. Runelords and Iron Gods are pretty awesome, while Second Darkness apparently has problems. I haven't run into those myself in my game on these boards, but I'm aware that the elves eventually come out as jerkfaces. Anyway, you know I'd have kept reading if you continued, NobodysHome, but I don't want to know spoilers for stuff coming up, so I can't follow it as closely as I did your Runelords or Wrath of the Righteous threads.

I'm definitely looking forward to hearing the ends of the Sandpoint Heroes' stories.

I would've sooner, but your name is super similar to one of my brother's e-mail, he's always thumbed his nose at published adventures and had always said he had too many people for me to join, so I was a bit irked when I'd thought he was running Wrath without me:D

Of course as soon as you started posting in the Wrath=fail thread I realized I was wrong (my wife even asked "are you sure it's not your brother?)

I've decided to move the fully functional repair drone into B3, with my group harvesting robots like Kidney Thieves on Skid Row the hallway isn't going to help it, also this way it gets to unleash it's net.

And since they ignored the hallway to the brown mold, I'm adjusting what happened to poor Gerrol :-)

As he was fleeing from the science deck, he bumped into the robot, which of course did nothing, however as soon as the poor guy turned around he knocked over some rubble, of course the robot did not like this, snapped his spine neatly in two, then before Rigor mortis could set in, stuffed the still folded Gerrol into a conveniently sized hole in the wall separating it from B4.

Of course if they want his gear and bring him up for proper burial they're gonna have to figure out how to get the poor guy out (I'm thinking DC 25)

An email alert feature would be great on threads. I asked about this years ago during the days of Dungeon. The reply back then was that they had that feature but turned it off because the amount of emails would kill their system or bandwidth can't remember now.

This was more than a decade ago though. During the Shackled City AP. Would like to know if that's still an issue or something else is keeping us from getting updates.

I end up checking the IG boards once a day and reading the new posts. That works fine for one forum but not for multiple ones. It's all very 2003.

Oh, she'll smack me around once she returns for one of her once-in-a-blue-moon turns about the messageboards. I'm sure I'm missing others, and they're all gathering for a massive NobodysHome smackdown.

On a complete side note, your brother uses NobodysHome as an e-mail address? That's just darned scary....

(To the disbelievers, Cap and I have never met. We just encourage each other anyway, and fear for the world should my elder son and his daughter ever meet...)

Yeah it's a pretty hilarious coincidence, and you'll be happy to know he's considered one of the fun uncles:-)

Edit: but yes I could tell you weren't the same people, also it's my younger brother, so unless you've mastered time travel...

Doc?

Yeah, unless your younger brother is pushing 50 I'm sure I'd be happy to trade knees with him -- too many years of full-contact Tae Kwon Do. Amazing how often your knee connects to the other guy's.

So, if we're derailing YOUR thread, is it really a derail?

On the first round of combatting the repair drone, 64 Bit Anne scores a twenty on both the attack roll and the critical confirmation roll, leaving the the robot stunned

GM (me): okay, its stunned what do you do?
Poe: I put on my stilts
Galileo (also me): i try pulling the body out of the hole, rolls a 5
Jak: i look for Batteries!

Anne was the only one to attack, however she was on a critical rampage tonight! like nearly every roll was a 19-20, she needed it tho, last game didn't go well

also one last tid bit before going to bed (i'm more of a morning person:-p)

Poe Quotes:

(clarifying that what i'd thought had said 10 servings was actually 100 servings of Dwarven Stout): thats okay though its in a keg, its a reward for him having to carry the ladder"

(getting ready to roll perception to look for treasure): Oh, boy guys! i'm great at this!!"....... rolls the most hilarious 1 of the night:-D

..... And finally "It turns out Alien Tentacled Aberrations taste like Squid, and fit easily onto a dwarf's back"

Also Galileo and Jak spent forever trying to unwedge poor Gerrol from the wall (Anne refused "eww, i don't need new armor that bad! i'll just go shopping!") any way after repeated rolls, and failures by Galileo and Jak, Poe came over and rolled a 20:-p (i was going with 25 DC, but the combo of the boys rolling 3s and 5s for 10 minutes (or so it seemed to them) then Poe coming over and getting him out made me go with nobodyshome's +5 for awesomeness rule:-p

I regret nothing!!, at least until the Taco Pizza for supper winds its way through my bowels:-p

The First Foray into the Black Hill Caves

The day after drinking the fluids our intrepid little band gathered at the cave entrance with Joram to get their water breathing spell for the day cast, which honestly surprised Anne and Poe, who thought it was a bit excessive. Poe: "i have a rank in swim why do i need to breath this s~$*ty water?" Anne: "why are we swimming?" well okay Anne might not've been paying attention.

Once in the caves they quickly ran through the beatles, found poor tragic Parda, with Poe vowing to throw a kick ass funeral when they get paid.

next came the Blindheim, the only one to fail their save was Galileo, with Anne leading the charge it didn't last long, with Anne getting a wicked critical and Galileo swinging his War Hammer about randomly, i think it lasted like two rounds, Jak got to cast Magic Missle and True Strike:-p, expending all but Shocking Grasp.

In an Ideal world the session involving the Skulk encounter was a thing of role-playing beauty, however Poe’s player was dealing with allergies and had a nasty gardening wound that had become infected that she was understandably concerned about, so she was not her quippy self, so nothing literally of interest happened (at least that I remember, I’m not the studious note taker others like Nobodyshome might be:-p)

Warning! Rant ahead!
First of all I love adventure paths and I love they mix up monsters, and really this is more directed at GMs then adventure writers, not in a critical way mind you, more in a this is how I keep f#&!ing up, learn from my mistakes way☺

When you see there are an abnormally large amounts of Gremlins or a Quasit with visions of grandeur in the dungeon ahead, tell them straight out Buy Cold Iron S#&+!! its not enough you seed hints and rumors, have a g*@+%&n vendor set up outside handing out Cold Iron Weapons as they walk in:-p

“I have an Android fighter with a 64 point equivalent, what me worry” you say!
Well if your Android fighter stops rolling 19-20 and goes cold, you are in for a 29 round endurance marathon!

The most hilarious part is every single adventure path has had gremlins or faeries or mites or…… so really they should know better☺

Rant over

that’s all for tonight will try to get the rest caught up tomorrow, our next session they pushed into the beginning of the ship and into the actual habitat module

tomorrow Hell hath no fury like an Android critical hitting Robots!

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I've decided I'm going to play the Black Sovereign almost as a combination of Jack Black as Elvis and the king of Rohan, I think I can pull it off :-)

Also working on a redemption angle for a certain Android :-)

We'll see how everyone feels tonight, would've this weekend but we got hit with a nasty spring cold:(

Everyone's on the mend though, that's also why I kind of let the spiders settle in lately, too busy! Hope to get Ghelarn fight up soon, that was our best battle yet, super challenging, but not in a frustrating kind of way :-)

Gremlins Suck!

as stated above our party did not fare well versus the Gremlins, they had no Cold Iron, which doesn't seem all that bad when you have a mega Android with a great sword...... then you realize the sword is unusable in the cramped caves...... and the Android starts rolling all 3's and 4's, which might suck more psychologically then rolling 1's:-)

It probably wouldn't have been so bad had Anne A) Let Poe go first, and B) not rolled so terribly on perception checks. every trap was tripped, every Gremlin got a sneak attack in on Anne, Galileo burned thru all his spell slots on Cure Light Wounds just to keep Anne upright, her streak of bad rolls got so bad she actually tried saying "that was a practice roll" once, which she never does that:-)

after all that they returned to their warm beds in Torch, which was actually Galileo's first night outside his shack in the dump:-)

waiting for them were Invitations and lines of credit for Silverdisk Hall, which Poe found very fortuitous, as she had recently purchased Loaded Dice and Marked Cards "Man i'm going to rob this place stupid" she said, as she drifted off to sleep.

Hell hath no Fury like an Android critical hitting Robots

Second foray into the Blackhill Caves, day three.

After a spirited discussion the group decided to hold off on gambling until after their first foray into the actual metal doorway inside the caves.

of course, first we had to go over why the old dude with the Rod was there, right in front of him in fact:-)

Anne: Why does he have to cast a spell?
Galileo: so we can breathe underwater
Anne: who said anything about going underwater!
Poe: I'm confused... why do we have a water wizard in the first place then?
Jak: *sigh* I'm not a water wizard (makes sarcastic hand gesture)
Poe: well not with that attitude....

Anyway after much discussion they finally made it back to the metal doorway, where they made it to the third room with poor Gerrol stuffed into a hole in the wall and a Repair Drone on standby, Anne walked up and made up for all the stab wounds and pain inflicted by those s$*&bag Gremlins and rolled a 20 on both the hit and the crit confirmation roll, then to top it off the robot rolled a one on his save to avoid being stunned. realizing the robot didn't stand a chance against a 64 bit Android with Gremlin issues needing to be worked out, our intrepid heroes began wasting actions.

Poe: I put on my stilts
Galileo: i try pulling the body out of the hole, rolls a 5
Jak: i look for Batteries!
Anne: i hit it again

Just as the Robot regains its senses, Anne hits again with consecutive 20s this time destroying it, not even Max hit points could save the poor thing:-)

after destroying the robot, they decided to look for treasure, Poe in a moment of braggadocio says about searching for treasure "Don't worry guys i got this, this is what i'm best at..... and rolls a 1! the whole table cracked up laughing so loudly our neighbors were looking at us weird:-)

Anyway after prying on Gerrol for awhile and rolling 4's and 5's, Poe came over and rolled a 20!

GM Notes: because kids love treasure i upped the tech items here to include two Chemalyzers even though they're worth 5k combined, rightfully guessing there's no way they'll ever be sold, and they are fairly harmless.

anyway getting tired so best not screw up the Ghelarn battle, i'll try to hammer it out hopped up on coffee in the morning:-)

Also Party was still in spring cold recovery mode, so no game tonight:-(

Oh hello little Cricket, i shall name you Frankie, you'll be the cowardly little guy with the heart of gold that pulls it together at the last moment. And you, i'll name Jenny, you can be the tomboy best friend with underling romantic tension... *Squish*..... i expect plenty of romance with Heather over here... *squish*... meh, romance is overrated anyway.....

O.P.R.A.H. And R.O.S.I.E.

My plan is to have one Medical Drone
speak in a pleasant voice and try to say things to put patients at ease, such as "Don't be alarmed, this is a kindness" (creation of Misroi:-D) or "Please remain calm, we are merely rotating your internal organs" "not to worry, we're only harvesting your lower horn"

While the other will speak loudly and say alarming things like "THIS SURGERY HAS AN 87% PERCENT FAILURE RATE, ALERT YOUR NEXT OF KIN!" "DR. PHIL'S PRODUCERS WOULD LIKE A WORD WITH YOU" and if they don't destroy it after 2 rounds "DID YOU VOTE TODAY"

Nope, no idea what the acronyms stand for, and I'm pretty sure only I and Poe's player will get it, still worth it:-D

Gambling S~$!

Big surprise, I'm wildly ignorant of gambling and card games. So Silverdisk Hall has always been a potential thorn, luckily for me Anne has wanted no part in it, however it's pretty integral to the story and Poe has been wanting to rob someone stupid, so..... anyway long story short, I figured out how to role play a Roulette Table (that's the one with the ball and the spinner from the Game of Life right?) So what I do is have them call out a number between one and twenty, then roll a twenty sided, pay out is double what they bet (or however you say that in gambler jargon, I also got a card game from Price of Infamy, but I think the roulette wheel will be the most popular :-)

Lastly, while everyone else is gambling I'm going to have Meyanda try to convert Anne to Hellion, all part of her redemption angle :-)

I thought the last couple posts would at least get someone to poke around, at least to tell me I'm doing it wrong :-)

Guess its time to learn how to speak cricket or some equally shy mammal (whom I find more relatable then insects:-D)

Simulating a roulette wheel with a d20 is a good idea...
Bet on odd/even, or 1-10, 11-20, and if you're right, win double your bet.
Bet on a number, and if you're right, win 10 times what you bet.
It's not an exact match, but it's enough incentive to encourage people to bet away their life savings, which is pretty much what gambling is about...

Thanks! That's awesome, my only experience with Roulette Tables is from movies and television :-) so as you can imagine I'm short on specifics, so thats a huge help :-)
