Barbarian rage

Could you guys give a clarification of how barbarian rage works for a level 1 character. What is the net gain in HP and bonus to hit/damage? My interpretation is that you get 4 more points in str and con (so a str of 16 would be 20 during rage increasing the bonus from +3 to +5) but my friend's interpretation is that you get and extra +4 bonus (so if you had a +3 str bonus, you would have +7 while raging) and that the paragraph about the 2 extra hit points per hit dice is not referring to the increase in CON but an extra bonus. (if someone had 16 con with 15Hp they would get 6 extra hit points having 21HP) They may be completely right but I just wanted to clarify.

You are correct, your friend is wrong. Note that the text is a morale bonus to your strength and constitution, not a morale bonus to your strength and constitution bonus.

Oh okay cool. It did seem a bit weird to me but I thought that maybe it was reasonable due to the fact pathfinder characters are much more powerful than old school characters that I am used to playing with.

You're correct, rage is only +4 to str/con, increasing the modifiers by 2. It's still an amazing ability (one that many people will sacrifice a level or two in their main class for).

Also another thing, when you multiclass you get that class's hit dice.
A level 2 fighter/wizard would be d10 and d6 right? (someone was insinuating that you took hit dice from preferred class only)

If you mean a fighter 1 wizard 1, then yes that would be 1d10 and 1d6, with whichever was the character's first level maxed.
