Benefit: Once per day, you can spend 10 minutes communing with a shaman spirit of your choice. When you do, you gain the temporary use of one hex from its list of hexes. This hex is added to your list of available hexes for the next 24 hours.
What decisions about this feat are made each day and what decisions have to be made when it is taken? Do I have to choose the spirit when I take the feat? Do I have to choose the hex when I take the feat?

On the surface it seems like you choose both when you commune each day.
Seems a tad powerful that way (understatement).
Even choosing a different hex with just one spirit each day for use is still rather powerful.
If you have to choose both when you take the feat it makes sense but is still really nice.

If you had to choose both when you took the hex, the language would read a lot more like extra hex. The use of 'of your choice' indicates that this choice is made in relation to the immediately preceding phrase: 'Once per day, ...' So you choose both every day, similar to the Oracle Spirit Guide archetype.

Ya, Spirit Talker is awesome. Keep in mind that choosing a different spirit + hex everyday is already something that Shamans do. The main benefit for Shamans is getting to grab a hex off a third spirit if you need to. Of course it also helps Witches to loot the entire Sorcerer/Wizard list though you may want to avoid Save DC spells since they'll be based on WIS and you can't dump CHA.
