PRD for Reefclaws

Death Frenzy (Su) When a reefclaw is killed, its body spasms horrifically. Immediately upon dying, the reefclaw makes a full attack against a creature it threatens. If more than one creature is within reach, roll randomly for each attack to determine the target (which may be another reefclaw).

Should this happen upon actual death, or should the thing automatically do this upon falling unconscious, then just die? Seems a little odd for it to go off like a time bomb after, you know, up to 13 rounds (assuming it failed its stabilization rolls).

RAW would suggest, though, that you wait. I'm curious if there have been any erratas about that that I haven't been able to google-fu.

You wait until the creature dies. So yes, it can be quite delayed in some cases.

Ferocity. Reefclaws have it.

A creature with ferocity still dies when its hit point total reaches a negative amount equal to its Constitution score.

Would this trigger on death effects? And what about disintegration effects?

By RAW Yes.

Though I find it unlikely that a player will get the opportunity to use disintegrate against a CR 1 creature.

Would I give the reefclaw his full attack after/while it is being disintegrated? Probably not. Because (for one) the PCs will be too high level for the reefclaws attacks to have any effect.

RAW, yes on both counts. But I'd not let it do so after disintegration, because that makes no sense.

Wow, there it is! One little word that I'd skimmed over! Thanks! Makes a huge difference!
