I just got to level 5 as a Magus. This is the first time I have played one so I went with just straight class (no archetypes) as a dex based dervish dancing.
What I am wondering though is what two feats I should take for level 5. I was thinking of taking toughness and weapon focus (scimitar).
At level 7 I was planing on the Metamagic feat intensify for shocking grasp.
What feats should I take for my lvl 5 magus?
Thanks

Intensify is an option at level 5, if you'd rather that. Useless at 5 but kicks in at 6.
What race are you looking at? That can provide some decent options on its own.
What arcanas have you taken? Extra Arcana is a very good feat, because a great many arcanas are better than feats.
I wouldn't take Toughness, unless your Con is particularly low, but Weapon Focus is a nice grab. Accuracy matters for the Magus, since they have fewer built-in accuracy boosters than many 3/4ths BAB classes.

I took the Accuracy one so I can get a +5 bonus to hit. I thought to take the Shield one at lvl 6.
I am a dwarf. (its an all dwarf campaign and i got a +2 int +2 dex trait) The only book we don't get to use is the ACG.
I thought about the extra Arcane feat but I am not sure what to take since most of them are like around 6th to get the good ones. :)

Yeah, no ACG means I'd steer away from Extra Arcana this early, unless you're fond of Spell Blending in some level 1 spells (I wouldn't be, honestly). If you can use the Familiar Folio, there's some fun stuff to do with the Familiar arcana though.
What have you taken for traits? Dwarf opens up Glory of Old, if that's still on the table via Extra Traits. Magus saves are good, but not great, and that helps a fair bit. Lots of options on what to pair it up with too.
If your GM is cool with it, the Magus makes a decent crafter.
The thing about the Magus is that if you use the Shocking Grasp skeleton it's a really open book. You take your one trait, you take Intensify Spell at 5th or 7th, you take your Dex to Damage stuff if you want it... and pretty much everything else is open.
There's some nice stuff out there, certainly, but a lot of it isn't available at 5th. Lunge, for example. And there are some traps: until you can somehow consistently pay for Accurate Strike's costs, you actually don't want Power Attack even if you have the Str, for example.

I think I will keep the Weapon Focus feat. Maybe I should take the extra Arcane Pool? I have 7 points right now..
The only Arcana I can see taking is the Shield one and at 5 there are not lot of good options.
The whole campaign is taking place underground. I was thinking of taking the extra Darkvision so I could see further but I am not sure if it will be that useful.
The plan is to go the 20 level though. So I should have feats to play around with stuff and things.

An alternative to picking up the shield arcana would be to pick up the spell Shield. Pretty much the same AC boost, but instead of spending a point and an immediate action to gain shield AC until the end of your next turn, you cast shield for 1min/level ahead of time and instead spend the pool point on a level 1 spell recall to buy back the level 1 slot you spent on Shield.
