psudeodragon animal companion possiable?

Is there a way to get psudeodragon as an animal companion other than dm fiat? the advance race guide that they will be a familar for arcane casters, or allies for druids/rangers...

How would you get this to work.

If you have caster levels, anyone can get a familiar now through a few feats, and then you can grab improved familiar to turn it into a pseudodragon.

Druid's animal companions are just that: animals.

A pseudodragon is not an animal; it's a dragon:

Pseudodragon
CR 1XP 400
NG Tiny dragon
Init +2; Senses blindsense 60 ft., darkvision 60 ft., low-light vision; Perception +6

Since it is not an animal, it is not eligible as a choice for your animal companion. The text in the pseudodragon's bestiary entry that says it sometimes "some have befriended druids and rangers " means exactly that - friends. I have lots of friends, but none of them are "companions". My wife is my companion and she's a friend too, but she's my only companion; none of my other friends are companions. Likewise, while a pseudodragon might make friends with a druid or ranger, it won't become a companion.

Outside of DM fiat, of course.

How would I get it to work? Find a pseudodragon and talk to it. Be nice to it. Do things for it. You know, like you do with your IRL friends. Once you've befriended it, you can now roleplay your friendship.

Allies for Druids and Rangers means that they will associate with the latter on a free willed basis. as either NPC's or cohorts with leadership.
