Improved Two-Weapon Feint with Reach Weapon?

Advice

Primary hand: Short Spear

Using the Improved Two-Weapon Feint, could I use my short spear to forgo my first primary melee attack while adjacent to a target, even if I can't attack adjacent targets with my reach weapon?

(I'm assuming you mean longspear rather than shortspear.)

RAW, I don't see why not. Nothing says you have to be threatening to feint as far as I can tell.

If you want to get silly with it, you could even use Two-Weapon Feint to feint Opponent B 20 ft. away as you're TWF-attacking Opponent A. Then next turn go over and sneak attack Opponent B.

Reach weapons are still melee weapons. Seems kosher to me.

Thank you guys for clarifying.

Liberty's Edge

Not sure if I am completely understanding what weapons the character has, but if the core of the question is whether you would be allowed to 'sacrifice' an attack that you cannot use for the Improved Two-Weapon Feint, the answer at my table would be no. If you cannot use the attack, then you cannot sacrifice it.

The feat states the following:
While using Two-Weapon Fighting to make melee attacks, you can forgo your first primary-hand melee attack to make a Bluff check to feint an opponent.

If you are not able to use both weapons to attack, then you are not using two-weapon fighting.

Feinting with Improved Two-Weapon Feint, requires a metaphorical hand.
