Back in 2012 I accidently deleted my -2 character from my account before I had a chance to report any games to the character. The character isn't dead.
At the time I sent Paizo a message, and spoke with Vic and Ross if there was any way to restore the character. They said there wasn't any way to restore it. Basically once it was deleted it was gone from the Paizo system.
The error message "wrong type of character" shows up when I try to report a session with my deleted -2 character. Is there going to be any way to fix this, or is the character completely unreportable now?
If a character is deleted, then no, you shouldn't be able to report it. We're working on updates that will allow valid characters to be reported which should remove the block on reporting the session at all if it contains problematic characters, but allowing reporting on deleted characters is not a planned feature.
