Having fun with unimportant details

Iron Gods

Silver Crusade

I'm GMing FoC and when the PCs encounter their first robot, they wanted to know if there was any markings. The AP doesn't list anything significant so I decided to put a label on it saying it was made by the Weyland Corporation from the Alien Franchise on the spur of the moment. Given the next few books, this is going to play out hilariously.

Anyone else throw out an unimportant detail they had a good payoff?

Have Unity tell the PCs off-offhandedly how fat, ugly, and adopted they are. And that's terrible.

Scarab Sages

I had a bit of fun with my players when I DM'd "The Temple of Empyreal Enlightenment" - they were exploring the temple and came to a room that didn't really have anything in it, but they still sniffed around it a bit and asked what they'd found, so I told them they'd found an ancient pictogram of a long-lost sacred Koradan sexual rite inlaid in a section of the floor. I believe the response was something like this:

[Kitsune Ninja]: Ooh, let me see!
[Nerdy Elf Summoner who jots down interesting things to put in the books he writes]: No, I gotta make sure this fascinating discovery is properly recorded!
[pre-gen Paladin]: This is sacred knowledge! I must personally see to its security!

etc.
