Slayer Talent: Ranger Combat Style

Couple Questions but first here is the important Text.

Ranger Combat Style (Ex): The slayer selects a ranger combat style (such as archery or two-weapon combat) and gains a combat feat from the first feat list of that style. He can choose feats from his selected combat style, even if he does not have the normal prerequisites. At 6th level, he may select this talent again and add the 6th-level ranger combat feats from his chosen style to the list. At 10th level, he may select this talent again and add the 10th-level ranger combat feats from his chosen style to the list.

Q) Can a character who chooses a different slayer talent at level 6 choose it at a later level or is the option gone forever?

Thing is most talents don't call out specific levels, so I'm not sure.

The way it's written, if you want to follow a overly strict reading then yes you would need to take it at level 6.

Except that's silly.

The intention of the writing was to make it progress at the same rate Ranger's acquired their combat style feats. Which was at 2nd level, 6th level, and 10th level. The Ranger can go on to acquire more, but the Slayer is limited to selecting it only 3 times.

Basically look at it as a restriction for how soon you can take it, rather than restricting it to a certain level. You can't choose it a second time before level 6, or a third time before level 10. You can't select it a 4th time at all.

It was also written to prevent you from taking the extra talent feat to scoop up extra ranger combat style talents and getting more than the 3 style feats.
