Spell-less paladin archetype / alternate class

Homebrew and House Rules

I am currently trying to come up with a racial archetype for the paladin class, and was wondering if giving them a laundry list of 'talents' or 'powers' to choose from (starting at 3rd level, and a new one every 3 levels after) would be an appropriate replacement for spells. The paladin's mercies would be replaced as well (one of the talents allows them to choose a mercy if they so choose).

Does this seem balanced? The talents are mostly drawn from different places; many from the Genius Guide to the Templar and Zealous Powers from the MCArchetypes page, while a few are new that I have created.

Questions, Comments, Concerns?

Have you considered drawing upon the alignment opposite of what you're tying to make? The Antipaladin got that intriguing Dread Vanguard archetype that doesn't use spells. Perhaps the same things they get for it could be made into a more light-side version.

The paladin counterpart to that is Warrior of the Holy Light. I was going for a different route. In reality, what I had in mind was similar to the Zealous Myrmidon MCArchetype, except being Paladin/Fighter rather than Fighter/Paladin.

Little red goblin games tome of twisted things had the avenger, which was a spell-less paladin alt that may be helpful.

In place of mercies and spells, give them 4 skill points and rogue talents. ;)

Make that Slayer talents, or possibly Rage powers activating on Smite, and it doesn't sound so bad.

Well, the list of talents is similar to the Slayer talents (I may have to look through them to see which ones I can 'borrow' for the custom list).

Maybe favored enemy vs undead, evil outsiders, and evil dragons or spell resistance with bouns vs evil alinged spells.
