I've seen various advice threads on surviving early PFS scenarios that state you should have weapons made of various materials as you can afford them (or blanches if not).
My question is: What negatives are there to using a purchased masterwork weapon of a specific material as your primary weapon (i.e. instead of having a normal masterwork greatsword, I use a cold iron greatsword as my weapon for all combats, with adamantine and alchemical silver back-ups)?
It seems that this would save gold, but I haven't seen it brought up in any of the advice threads as a way to get at least one of these items sooner.

Adamantine weapons, AFAIK, are strictly superior to the other types unless you need to overcome non-adamantine DR. Cold iron weapons are especially expensive to enchant, so I wouldn't suggest using that as your main weapon. Silver weapons do 1 less damage than other types (unless they're pure bludgeoning weapons), so once again, not recommended for your primary weapon.

You can use Mithral for DR/Silver without the damage penalty. The problem is Mithral weapon cost is weight based, so any weapon heavier than 6 lbs will cost more to make it from Mithral than it does making it from Adamantine.
I generally buy a MW Cold Iron primary weapon as soon as I can afford it, but the first weapon I enchant isn't that one. At about the point I would be able to afford to enchant it, I could buy two magical weapons made of normal materials. Not worth waiting for.

I suggest Main weapon as Adamantine and get a MW. Cold Iron for your back up weapon.
Currently PFS is loaded down with constructs. And season 6 has a heavy need for Adamantine weapons.
The MW. Cold Iron shouldn't break you and gives you +1 to hit with it.
I also recommend a Potion of Bless weapon for 50g as alignment DR sucks when it comes up.
