How do Improved Overrun, Greater Overrun, Charge Through, and Spiked Destroyer interact with Pounce?
How do Improved Overrun, Greater Overrun, Charge Through, and Spiked Destroyer interact with Pounce?

![]() As the thread title states, I'm interested in how these feats interact with Pounce.
Greater Beast Totem:
Benefit: While raging, the barbarian gains the pounce special ability, allowing her to make a full attack at the end of a charge. In addition, the damage from her claws increases to 1d8 (1d6 if Small) and the claws deal x 3 damage on a critical hit. Improved and Greater Overrun:
Improved Benefit: You do not provoke an attack of opportunity when performing an overrun combat maneuver. In addition, you receive a +2 bonus on checks made to overrun a foe. You also receive a +2 bonus to your Combat Maneuver Defense whenever an opponent tries to overrun you. Targets of your overrun attempt may not chose to avoid you. Greater Benefit: You receive a +2 bonus on checks made to overrun a foe. This bonus stacks with the bonus granted by Improved Overrun. Whenever you overrun opponents, they provoke attacks of opportunity if they are knocked prone by your overrun.
Charge Through:
Benefit: When making a charge, you can attempt to overrun one creature in the path of the charge as a free action. If you successfully overrun that creature, you can complete the charge. If the overrun is unsuccessful, the charge ends in the space directly in front of that creature. Spiked Destroyer:
Benefit(s): When you succeed at a bull rush or overrun combat maneuver, you may automatically make an attack roll with your armor spikes against the target of the maneuver as a swift action, using your highest attack bonus. In looking at the above information, my understanding goes this far: If my character makes a Charge against enemy B using Pounce from Greater Beast Totem and there is an enemy A directly between my character and enemy B I am able to Overrun as a free action due to Charge Through with all the relevant bonuses from Improved and Greater Overrun. If enemy A is knocked prone my character gets an AoO on him from Greater Overrun and can also attack with armor spikes using Spiked Destroyer by spending a swift action. After resolving those attacks my character completes the charge and due to Greater Beast Totem gets to Full Attack enemy B. Is this understanding correct? I'm trying to decide on a feat path for my barbarian and I loved the idea of a spiked wrecking ball running directly at the target he wants regardless of who is in his way. It will take one hell of an investment, but I don't feel like he'll suffer in other areas because of the relatively low feat investment required to make a barbarian effective. ![]()
![]() Intuitive Conversationalist (Social) Growing up you always seemed to sense what other people were feeling while speaking with them. This made it easier for you to phrase what you wanted to say in a more palatable way. After taking this trait you use your Wisdom modifier when using the Diplomacy skill to influence someone's attitude. All other uses of Diplomacy still use your Charisma modifier. ----- Not sure if this is the best place for ideas for new traits, but it seemed like the most appropriate forum. ![]()
![]() I attempted to find the answer via search, but was not successful. If I have a dwarf gunslinger musket master who is taking the favored class bonus (1/4 reduction of misfire chance, cannot go below 1) does this stack with other reductions of misfire chance (Reliable enchant, etc.)? If it makes any difference this is for PFS play. Thank you in advance for any assistance. ![]()
![]() I'm looking for information on kitsune for my character for PFS play. I'm wanting to make a rather in-depth background for him so I get a bit more investment than I have with my current character. With that in mind I see the Dragon Empires Gazetteer and the Dragon Empires Primer both have information, but which goes into a bit more detail? Specifically, I'm hoping to be able to flesh out his history from childhood to his first adventure, including where he would have lived in Tian Xia and what sort of races/people he would have interacted with growing up as a kitsune on that continent. Thank you in advance for helping decide where to spend my money. ![]()
![]() I'm asking regarding PFS. I'm primarily hoping to use Mend to repair the character's gun should it misfire, but I saw the Arcane Bond 1st level benefit of the Arcane Bloodline and had the thought that I could choose the gun as the bonded item. Is my thinking correct? If yes, would that prohibit me from using mend since the misfired gun is now "broken" and an Arcane Bonded item prevents the use of spells until the item is repaired? ![]()
![]() I've seen a few threads giving the advice to players seeking it that they should pick Pistolero or Musket Master. I'm hesitant to make a decision about which style of gun my character uses at creation and then being unable to change it after level 1. So, my question is, are the archetypes really that much better than vanilla Gunslinger? Is it just that the vanilla Gunslinger is too feat intensive or expensive to gear properly? Thanks in advance for your input. ![]()
![]() I've seen various advice threads on surviving early PFS scenarios that state you should have weapons made of various materials as you can afford them (or blanches if not). My question is: What negatives are there to using a purchased masterwork weapon of a specific material as your primary weapon (i.e. instead of having a normal masterwork greatsword, I use a cold iron greatsword as my weapon for all combats, with adamantine and alchemical silver back-ups)? It seems that this would save gold, but I haven't seen it brought up in any of the advice threads as a way to get at least one of these items sooner. ![]()
![]() My character currently in use is crossed out on my alias page. I assume it is because I played a pregenerated character at my first PFS session who died and that credit was applied to my PFS number. I have since played two sessions with the character whose name appears crossed out. I'm looking to remove the crossed out status that makes my current character appear to be the one that died as he wasn't even created until after the first session. Please let me know if more details are needed or if I need to contact someone via other means. Thank you! ![]()

I really dig this idea. At my home games as a GM I always had the content discussion prior to the first game when talking with players about character creation. It was mostly a, "What sort of themes or content should I absolutely refrain from bringing into the game environment?" I've never once been disappointed in having asked this prprior to the first session. The quoted idea above sounds to me like one of the best ways to accomplish something similar. While I'm not a PFS GM, I would be very willing to contribute to such a forum after playing any scenarios that I note a possible trigger event. I don't personally suffer any PTSD, but have known and done my best to help a few friends who have suffered. I like the idea of the X-cards as well, but could see them also being difficult for some GM's or Players to master using. I would wholeheartedly support their use in any games I play. ![]()
![]() Scenario: A level-dipped Inspired Blade (Swashbuckler)/Empiricist (Investigator) uses her True Strike extract. Before her next round is up she is attacked and decides to use Opportune Parry and Riposte. Does the +20 apply to the parry since it is resolved as an attack roll, does it apply to the responding attack if her parry is successful, or does it apply to nothing until her next true attack in the following round? I'm specifically asking as I'm theory-crafting a character for PFS and was looking at the extract list when the idea that True Strike could be used as a "get out of jail free card" vs a melee attacker if an attack came prior to the next round. Thanks in advance for any answers! ![]()
![]() Figured I'd just ask here rather than make a new thread. If I want to make a weapon out of cold iron does it need to be masterwork or is it just double the cost? Also, if ammunition, is it double the cost per arrow/bolt, or double the cost of 20/10? Specifically, I'm hoping to buy some arrows and while the 2g for 20 would be affordable after my other purchases, as would the 40g for 20 if that is how the doubling works, 122g for 20 would be too steep to afford at this time. Thank you for the assistance already provided everyone, and thank you in advance for any further assistance. ![]()
![]() Just curious what sort of preparation all the DMs do before they run scenarios. I'm curious about PFS scenarios specifically, but I'd be interested in reading anything different people do for non-PFS home games too. I've never run a PFS scenario as I'm still new, but I have been the DM for home games ever since my brother went to college back in 1996. My preparation for published adventures was always a heavy dose of writing in the margins in pencil on the published books with my additions and ideas, with occasional additional scripting for ideas to add flavor to what was written. Also, in home games, changing the loot to something useful for the characters I knew were going to play was always a standard prep-time routine. Obviously, my preparation for my own adventures usually involved a whole lot more work. Designing the encounters, making sure they all linked in an "open" way so if the PCs veered off course wildly I could still have the encounters happen, just in different ways. So, what do all the DMs do to prep for PFS and/or non-PFS scenarios? ![]()
![]() Hello Everyone, I've recently played my second time in the local PFS game day. This time I survived the adventure and played my own character instead of a pregen. I took some advice I found on these forums for surviving the lower levels after I died playing the pregen and immediately used my first 2 PP to buy a CLW wand to help with survival. My question, however, comes up because the group I played with had to disband rather swiftly once the Chronicle sheets were handed out. Now that I have some gold I just need to know if I have to wait to purchase any mundane equipment upgrades until I'm in the presence of a GM or if I am able to add them to the sheet included with the PFS Guide to Play myself and deduct the gold from my totals. If I'm able to add them myself do I need to have my next GM initial my purchases to make them official? Thank you for any assistance. As a side note, I did have a blast my first session despite the near-TPK situation my group ended up having. The second session was equally as fun. Looking forward to many more. |
