Just finished Breaking the Dreamstone, we won and Lirianne was still possessed by Bikendi Otongu.
If you win the scenario, draw 1 of each type of boon other than loot.
So, I was pretty bummed out because, during the scenario, Lirianne had played the Letter of Marque and chosen weapons. We only got two weapons, and the first one she encountered was Spellsword +2. No one had any blessings, so even though she had Bikendi's Arcane skill, she had no shot at acquiring it for Oloch. The other card was a Shortsword.
But, as I was drying my eyes at the end of the scenario, I noticed something lacking from the Bikendi's reward. The word "random." I leaped for joy! I could get the Spellsword back due to the most awesome thing every earned for winning a scenario!
My wife doubted my understanding of the rules, so I declared "To the rulebook!" I checked to see if there was anything saying that such a thing should automatically be random. There was a section about drawing cards. And, while there was nothing about it being random, my hurt sunk when I saw this:
RULES: DRAWING CARDS
Unless a card says otherwise, drawing means taking a card from the specified source and adding it to your hand. If no source is specified, draw it from your character deck.
So, not only does Bikendi not specify random, it doesn't specify a source. Which would mean that they cards must be from my character deck.
I'm pretty sure this isn't how it supposed to work. I'm 99.9999999999999999% sure the cards are supposed to come from the box. Are they also supposed to be random? (Please say no so I can have my Spellsword +2.)
Thanks. Looking forward to seeing deck 5 later this month.

Would definitely be from the box. Drawing after the game is over does nothing.
I'm inclined to say it's intended to be random, and plan to do it that way with my group. Being able to hand pick one of every type without adventure limitation is insanely powerful, especially for playing a scenario with a role card that is really good for any arcane casters.

...My wife doubted my understanding of the rules, ...
I finally found ONE person in the world to doubt Hawk's understanding of the rules!!!
Had to be wify....I should have known... cause my wife is the ONE person in the world doubting that it has to take two rooms in my house just to store games.

I have a knack of shuffling decks so badly that the same card comes back out on top (a real pain when evading) - perhaps you could do that, Hawk, to get your random spellsword.
I actually tend to do the same. I just let my siblings shuffle all the locations for me, so they won't blame me if the Henchman/Villain is the top card on the first exploration.
