Sorcerer weapon as arcane bond instead of familiar? Anyway?

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

One of my players is downright determined he wants to be a dragon blood sorcerer who is the direct son of a dragon almost as a arrogant draconic prince, which i thought was a pretty good idea, a lawful evil but noble demon archtype, the kind of character that talks about how evil they are and how powerful they want to become, but by the end are more good guys than bad and just have a attitude, starting off fairly cruel and merciless but slowly being changed by the friends they have surrounded themselves with.

Now I approve of this, I have confidence in this roleplayer to pull it off as he is probably the best roleplayer in my group and its ambitious and i like ambitious.

But they want to have a sword, sort of like a arcane warrior, while staying true to the sorcerer bloodlines and such, and i have seen a few ways of doing this but they are often convoluted, and iv found that there are ways of sorcerers getting magical familiars but is there anyway they can get a Arcane bonded weapon instead?

We have talked about the Tattooed sorcerer build which lets you have a familiar tattooed into your body, but as far as I can tell its only familiars not swords and items.. which sucks, i mean I cant see why not, instead of a squirm or lizard tattoo why not a sword you can summon right out of your skin?

Anyway, if there are any less round about ways to have a sorcerer using a arcane bonded weapon than id love to talk it over, If all else fails i might just allow him to do tattooed sorcerer with a arcane bonded weapon instead of familiar as a houserule, but i really hate going outside the lore of the world...

The basic arcane bloodline gives you an arcane bond as per wizard, which you could take as a bonded weapon. If they're really set on draconic bloodline they could go crossblooded draconic/arcane.
Another option would be the blade adept archetype for arcanist. Or just magus if they want more martial lest spellcasty.

Scarab Sages

If they don't want to go crossblooded, they could take Eldritch Heritage(arcane) and get an Arcane Bond item that way. If they did that as a Tattooed Sorc, they could have a Familiar and an Item.

Here is a counter-suggestion: he should not go for an arcane bond and simply craft a sword as he levels.

What an arcane bond gives mechanically, is:
+another spell per day
+free craft item proficiency for that item only
-you need the item to cast

If he's having to make massive changes to his build or take a heap of feats just get a magic sword, why not just craft the magic himself when he gets higher level? Nobody in the game starts with a magic weapon. At 5th level, he can pick up Craft Arms & Armor and begin forging his magical weapon.

If you are up on the crafting rules: lacking a spell prerequisite for an item during creation simply means that the spellcraft check to craft an item goes up by 5 per missing item (unless its a spell trigger/completion item, in which case you can't craft it). This simple caveat in the rules means that even a sorcerer, if they have high enough spellcraft, can be a fine weapon craftsman.

He won't necessarily be proficient in the blade - he might need a feat or trait for that. But, you could couple it with the trait Heirloom Weapon and later on the spell Masterwork Transformation (which he would need to make it magical)

As a side benefit, he could forge weapons for others in his party if he took the feat.
