Firefox Update: Version 1.29
Released version 1.29 on Github (for those who don't mind it not being signed by Mozilla), and submitted it to Mozilla for them to review, sign, and release. Should be out within a day or two... if it takes longer than that, I'll post here when it's out.
Chrome Update
I spent some time investigating the blacklist bug report I'd received, but wasn't able to reproduce the issue. (Refresher: user said that adding someone via the add/remove list in options didn't work.)
If anyone else experiences that, please shoot me a PM.

Hey, Oladon!
So, I had this idea... uh-oh. Is there any way to have the extension let us keep a local library of avatars and substitute them for the Paizo avatars for a particular alias (on our own computer only)? Then people who want custom avatars could have their own without Paizo having to open the custom avatar door.

If you haven't done so yet, please vote in my new feature poll for this extension. I need some help deciding what new features you (the users of the extension) would like most.
(And on that note, I fixed a bug the other day, but am holding off on releasing a new version until I've got a new feature to release.)

Firefox Update
(Note: this update is pending Mozilla's approval, but should be out within a few days. They might also make me change the version number... we'll see.)
I've just released version 1.2.0 of the Firefox extension, which adds four new features and makes the rather significant leap of switching over to Web Extensions, meaning that the Chrome and Firefox versions will now share most of the same code! (That means it'll be easier for me to implement new features from now on.)
The changes are:
- Bug Fix: help text will no longer be added on random pages (aliases page, campaign "Characters" page)
- New Extended Formatting Tag:
! Try it out! (Help text available in the "How to format your text" below the posting box.)
- Alias Sorter: Allows sorting of the alias tabs (yours or others') by name, faction (PFS aliases only), post count, and status line.
- Alias "Table View": An alternative view for the aliases tab.
- Active/Inactive Alias Designation: Allows you to mark your aliases as inactive, which causes them to be displayed in a separate section.
(Note: there's a known bug where if you're using the active/inactive designation, but not the alias sorter, sections can still get sorted sometimes. I've added a note to fix this for the future.)
Chrome Update
I prepared version 1.2.0 of the Chrome extension with the same spiffy changes as above... and Google decided to take down the extension from their store. Completely. This is, as you may imagine, rather frustrating for me. I've sent in a "Contact Us" form, and am awaiting their response with tentative hope but fairly low expectations.
I really hope they don't disable it for those who have version 1.1.91... will post updates here.
Generic Update: Chat Disabled (Temporarily)
The server where I was hosting the chat infrastructure was taken down and rebuilt by its owner, who forgot it was running the PCT chat service. I've gone ahead and disabled the feature for now, until I have the money/time to get a replacement server set up.
As always, you can support this project via Patreon or Square Cash. Your support (both financial and other) is what motivates me to continue working on this.

Chrome Update
I've had a few back-and-forths with the "Chrome Web Store Team", with the last being them notifying me (via apologyless form letter, bleh) that they've reinstated the extension... however, the extension is still not reinstated, nor have they given me any indication whatsoever as to why it got taken down in the first place.
I'll give it tonight and email them again tomorrow if it's still not back. We'll get your new features out yet!

Chrome Update
And the Chrome version is out!
1.2.0 adds the changes listed above:
- Bug Fix: help text will no longer be added on random pages (aliases page, campaign "Characters" page)
- New Extended Formatting Tag:
! Try it out! (Help text available in the "How to format your text" below the posting box.)

... it only took a week, what feels like a bajillion emails, and a whole lot of frustration... and I still have no clue as to why their system took it down in the first place.
Firefox Update
The Firefox update is still pending review, but it's going to be 2.0.0 instead of 1.2.0. I don't get to unify the versions quite yet...

Where is the option for active/inactive aliases? And do you know why some of my campaigns get the default alias "check," while some others I can't seem to select that option?
Great questions.
To turn on active/inactive alias designation, go to chrome://extensions and click "Options" under Paizo Campaign Tools. You'll see a checkbox (the third one) underneath "Campaign Helpers" that says "Enable Active/Inactive Alias Designation". Make sure that's selected.
Alias Selector Missing from Campaigns
For this one, my guess is that you haven't visited your campaigns page recently. The extension relies on that page to know which campaigns you're in, so visit it and then try again.
If that doesn't work, shoot me a PM with the campaign(s) that aren't working, and I'll take a look!

So Chrome just took down the extension from their store again... I'll email them and try to get it back up, but this is getting frustrating -- or rather, even more frustrating than it was before.
Does Chrome allow users to install extensions that aren't from the Chrome add-on site? If so, it would probably be better to just put it on a file-sharing site and link to it in your profile. If not...eeek, that's harsh. I know Chromium does allow you to install "unapproved" extensions, but I'm not sure about Google's "official" Chrome builds.
(Though not the primary reason, Mozilla's decision to enforce "mandatory add-on signing" was one factor in my decision to stop using Firefox.)

I don't believe they do... but I'm open to being wrong! If anyone has any information about alternatives, please PM them to me!
I hear you regarding Mozilla. At least failing one of their mandatory reviews doesn't get your whole listing removed, though...

Okay, I checked and Chrome does not allow users to install unapproved extensions, unfortunately.
Chromium and Vivaldi are both 100% compatible with Chrome extensions, but are allowed to install unapproved extensions, though. So you could put your Chrome extension on a file-sharing website without Google's approval, and it would be useable by some people, but not by people who can only use the official Chrome builds.
I'm currently running Pale Moon, which, right now, is compatible with the Firefox version of your extension. I don't know how much longer it will keep working on Pale Moon, as Firefox and PM continue to drift further apart and Mozilla is gutting much of their extension ecosystem next year (the Pale Moon developers recommend add-on developers create forks of their add-ons which explicitly target Pale Moon. Obviously, the PM developers are bias:D).

… (snip, snip, snip) …
Please let me know if you have any questions, requests, or feedback!
I like it. Shame I didn't notice this sooner.
I just installed it on Chromium (I'm a Linux user) on my PC.
I like the way it arranges campaigns and alias by page width, not a fixed (low) number.
The new posting highlighter for campaigns is very handy too.
Being able hide/unhide inactive campaigns would be nice.
Not a "must have", mind. But would be nice to have.
I like looking back at old material for ideas.
Anyway, keep up the good work!

Oladon |
Ben: FYI, version 2.0.0 (currently pending review by Mozilla) switches over to Web Extensions, which may break Pale Moon compatibility, unfortunately. If you upgrade and it doesn't work, you can always find 1.29 on the project's Github page.
Xunal: Thanks! When you say hide/unhide inactive campaigns, do you just mean hiding the "Previous Campaigns" section of the campaigns page?
Chrome News
Well, the extension (1.2.0) is back up in the Chrome Web Store... but I still have no idea why their system flagged it, so I'm not too hopeful that it won't get taken down again. :/
Firefox News
Still waiting on the Mozilla peeps to review version 2.0.0.

Oladon |
Ah, gotcha. That'd be easy enough to add... I'll put it on the list. By the way, I'd love to hear your thoughts on my new features poll when you have a few minutes. :)

Firefox News
Firefox users rejoice! Version 2.0.0 is out with all the spiffy new features referenced here. Enjoy, and be sure to let me know what you think.
In theory it is now possible to install this add-on on Firefox for Android. However, I haven't been able to figure out how to change the add-on options, nor does the extension appear to be doing anything... so your mileage may vary. (With that said, I think this is an exciting possibility, and worth exploring how we can make it work.)
What's Next?
I'm planning to release a minor version update soon with the following changes:
- "Default" as an alias sorting option for PFS aliases (to sort by PFS number [Paizo's default])
- ability to collapse/expand the inactive campaigns section, and a setting for whether it should start out expanded or collapsed when you visit the page
As always, I love user feedback as well as your votes regarding new features.

Got it. (I'm using FireFox.) I like the alias sorting, except that now I'll have to actually put my PFS characters' numbers in their profiles--before, I could just count them. The other thing I noticed is that I can't set a default alias for a campaign--it always defaults to John Woodford, and the little icon I could use to set a new default is gone.

Yeah, I mentioned the PFS number thing above — I'll be adding the Paizo default sort (PFS number) back as an option (and the default for PFS aliases) in the next version, which should be out... soonishly.
Hmm, alias selector shouldn't have changed. Could you double-check that it's enabled?
Thanks for the feedback!

I just discovered that on my local version of Firefox, the update to 2.0.0 seemed to clear out all my settings (or maybe start them from scratch?), and Auto-Select Alias was disabled. (I don't think that's supposed to be the default for that feature, so that's something to look into regardless, but...)
Could you all try the following?
- Visit about:addons and click Options under the Paizo Campaign Tools extension
- Make sure Auto-Select Alias is checked
- Visit your base user's campaigns page -- that's the page you get to when you click on your name at the top, and then the "Campaigns" tab.
- Try visiting one of your campaign threads.
Let me know if that fixes it for you, or if the behavior changes. Thanks!

My Auto-select alias was unchecked. I see my Campaign Chat was, also - I had forgotten all about it, but it's not been available for quite some time, so I think that happened a while ago.
Off to test, will edit here with results.
EDIT: I must sorrowfully report that after checking those, going to the base user's Campaigns tab and trying to post in two of my campaigns, I do not see the check box to mark the user as the default user for that campaign and it doesn't appear to remember what I selected last time if I try to make two posts back-to-back.
Interestingly, before I went and checked the boxes that had been unchecked, your underlined text in your post was underlined. Now it is not and I see the markup tags instead. I remember seeing the underline before and the markup is glaring to me, so I'm pretty sure that's changed.

Visited Tools|Add-ons; clicked Options; made sure Auto-Select Alias was checked.
Started from Paizo's main page; clicked my name, clicked Campaigns, visited a thread.
Still no way to mark a default alias. Tried posting in one using an alias; after it posted, the default alias was still John Woodford.

Is the Mozilla version not working correctly? I am at work and cannot see the Paizo add on working.
Also I have no options tab in the add on section for this.
I have a number of reports of issues with the Firefox version. Not really sure how all of these things could be happening for you guys and not for me when I've tested, but... they do appear to be doing so.
If you guys wouldn't mind, please PM me your Firefox version, as well as whether you'd consider letting me debug remotely on your machine via online conferencing. I can't reproduce any of these issues locally, so if one of you can spare an hour to help me figure this out, that'd be very helpful.
NOTE: the extension won't work in private browsing mode!

Under your Extensions, you should see Paizo Campaign Tools. That line should have a button for options. In the screen that brings up, is "Auto-select Alias" checked?

News (Firefox and Chrome)
I've just released version 2.0.1 with a fix for the issue where the alias selector wasn't showing up for some of you; had to do with your Paizo username. Once 2.0.1 is approved and you've downloaded it, please visit your base user's campaigns page and double-check that the Alias Selector is enabled in the extension options. If the issue persists, please shoot me a PM with details.
This change also adds "Paizo Default" as the default sort order for aliases.
Firefox: The update is currently pending review. It's a very minor change, so hopefully it won't take as long as last time.
Chrome: 2.0.1 was rejected, so here we go again with their support... will post updates as I have them.

I've just been notified that my Google developer account has been suspended.
If any of you know anyone at Google (particularly someone nice who'd be likely to help), please put them in touch with me. Barring that, all I know to do is to keep pestering them and hope I happen to get in touch with a real person. It's getting old.
