I've been putting together a stonelord paladin for my next campaign, and I would like him to use primarily Dwarven weaponry. The Dwarven Chain Flail or dern-dergar seems like a good choice to allow you to switch between reach and non-reach while in a defensive stance, but I'm wondering if using the DDD and taking the Darting Viper feat is better than taking Quick Draw and using whatever weapons you want.
With the DDD you don't need to upgrade multiple weapons, but with the quick draw feat you have the option to switch to a longbow without missing an attack either, and you can pick weapons with better critical values than 20 x2. Then again, once you've dropped a weapon it's an AOO move action to pick it back up...
Any input? Both seem like they have their pros and cons... anything else worth considering?

I forget the entirety of feats needs, but if it requires the same number of feats for the dorn deager to be viable versus you other method of taking quick draw and using two weapons...then the dorn deager is better. Because needing to upgrade two weapons is a serious detriment if the feat cost is equal.

I also suggest you take the dwraven cleave feats that basically let you cleave against creatures smaller, and then equal, and then bigger than you so long as they're in your threatened area. Couple with a dorn deager thats a big area. Couple that with a friendly cast of enlarge person and now it's a huge area.

I use the MH with several characters but it does not do everything the SSD dies. DDD allows you to switch adjacent/reach style whenever you hVe the Action to do so. You could do stuff like full atack, take 1st att, realize it is better to switch adj/reach style for various reason like set.up a.new flank after downing an enemy, darting viper swift action before your 2nd attack. MH only let's you change at the begining of the action. Also DDD does d10 compared to nerfed down errata MH d8 20/x2.
Do you plan to take weapon focus? I tried switch hitting recently with weapon focus greatsword for better bell curve damage and crit range compared to MH. I would start with a reach Lucerne Hammer Hoping for an AoO, also like a psudo defense cause I find few DMs want to approach an AoO vs go attack someone else. I onsistently found a reason to keep attacking at reach and lost out on weapon focus. I found that a major bummer. That move action and provoking an AoO is unpleasant. Especially.if you moved away from the.dropped weapon. Made me long for the MH again. WF twice is similar to WFand exotic but those 2 weapons to enchant do become prohibitive. And the darting.viper feat itself could make.it feel like three feats. The feat for the one handed grip on DDD is also a little nice, carry a shield to if you want.
Whatever you do, make sure you grab at least 2 MW weapons, in case.you get your primary sundered, greased, dropped after becoming stun, ect.

Darting Viper is still a swift action though, and those are valuable. MH can only be done at the beginning of your turn, but it's a free action to do so.
Really the only benefit the DD has over the MH is the ability to one-hand it, but that takes three feats.
There is also the problem that the DD is not in any weapon groups. While it's obviously in flails for a home game with a reasonable GM, there is nothing official that says it is, which can be a problem with an overly strict GM or PFS play.

I guess the DDD is the way to go, and then just eat the loss of iterative attacks if I need to switch. I had been thinking Quickdraw would give you a lot of flexibility, but with defensive stance you can't 5-ft step, so you'd have to switch to a close weapon pretty regularly. Thanks for the input, guys.
